As to candling brown eggs, I actually have more problem with some of my green eggs than I do with brown eggs. I too, would be interested in any tips. I have a simple, cool light, electric candler and suspect there are brighter (and more expensive) versions available.

I really like it but the battery only lasts about 25 minutes and when you have over 100 eggs to candle at a time that is just not much time. Many use a mini mag light with the rubber do-dad (official name, promise) around the lense and candle from the top which is handy closer to hatching time.
