Elgin Realty and Countryside are the two best in this area for rural property. They are both run by country people (the Bridges and the Stallings families). They seem to understand it better than the others. Our experience with Johnny Owens was they were pretty clueless about country property.

It is working out slow, it is in transit. Hopefully it shows up in the next day or so. It says right on the webpage, "Dont buy eggs till you get your incubator". I figured that was for other people, I started saving eggs a few days ago. How long is the longest any of you guys ever hold eggs and they hatch.

Rule of thumb is "up to 10 days", but I think nnbreeder has some techniques for extending that.

I've been watching the auction prices for a long time and land is finally coming down to more reasonable prices. Saw 160 acres of good farm ground and pasture sell for $140,000. That could be made to pay for itself with a few mama cows and cutting hay.

Putting the eggs in the fridge when collected will extend it to almost 14 days, as long as the eggs don't freeze they will be fine. A wine cooler works the best as they usually have humidity controls to keep the cork expanded.
