***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I have a full day of yard / garden work. Mowing, mulching, planting seed etc..... And a raging headache. Oh and make some laundry soap.

Good morning! I got the cat, dog, ducks, chickens and humans fed and watered. Gave the bees fresh water too, but thankfully they can feed themselves. Leastways they can if this stupid drought ever breaks. I did set the sprinkler going on their flower garden at least. I have a few projects I need to get to this week. I want to build another hive because my top bar hive is almost full. They've got maybe two or three bars empty at the front and that is all. I think I'll do a split and put the old queen and half the colony into a Warre. I've been wanting to try out a Warre ever since I read about them. I also need to clean out the chicken room in the barn and bleach it down then move the birds in there. On the advice of a USDA veterinarian I'm going to put them on a month long course of abx to try to eradicate the MG. While they're in there I'll sterilize their coop and leave it empty so that hopefully we'll get rid of this stuff once and for all. If it doesn't work I'll cry. Then of course there's all the normal stuff I need to be getting done, laundry mountain, dishes, cooking, ack! It never ends!!

I have a question for the NN experts. It is my understanding that NN's are a mix like EE's and people mix all kinds of other chickens w/ the NN to get all kinds of versions on chickens w/ naked necks, like people do w/ EE's for colored egg laying chickens w/ all kinds of other characteristics. So my question is what is the breed that puts the naked in the chickens? (like ameraucana puts the colored egg gene in all the mixes)

There is a standard of perfection for showing NNs. So things like feathered feet or muffs or the wrong color or wrong combs wouldn't be allowed for showing purposes.
I have some with feathered feet and several with muffs.

NN are cool, if you just have them to look at you can do anything you want.

So it there an easy(ish) way of tellling if you are getting a NN, vs a chicken w/ some NN heritage (mixed w/ other stuff). Obviously a trusted breeder would be easy. But like in Amer vs EE the leg color, or feather colors etc....
