Take the pain medicine the dentist gave you, have a bowl of ice cream, hug the family and go to bed

It will be better tomorrow.

I have not been able to get online all day. DH just got home from work, powered up the computer, and everything is fine. I'm stymied. I reset the hub, powered the computer off, undid and redid all the cable connections, and tried several times to power back on with no success. DH just looks at me as says, "It's okay. You just don't get machines." He's right, and he just doesn't get animals. I think I prefer what I get.

Sure was hot today. I gave the teen ducks a shower under the hose. It was great to watch them dance, scratch their ears with tiny feet, and run in and out of the spray like toddlers. This is going to be a hard bunch to give up.

Robin - I've got four BR pullets I haven't sold yet. Are you still looking for one?

Lynn - Feel better soon. Headaches, toothaches, and body aches make us feel mortal, which is why we get to be such grumps. (I do, anyway.) I think the pain meds and ice cream idea is worth a try. Take time to heal. Most of us want to jump back in right away, without regard for our need to recuperate. It's okay to let your family take care of you for a change.

Hello all. Haven't been online for a few days. Two of my grandkids are here with me and occupy much of my time lately.

Peaches: glad your DH is on his way home!

Posting pics of 2 RSL pullets, 2 BSL pullets and a BR cockerel that all need to go as soon as possible. The cockerel started crowing today, and I can't have that where I live. All five are buddies, but will separate if need be. I'd rather not take them to auction, so if anyone is interested, just shoot me a PM.

Thanks all,

Edited to add that they are all sweet birds. The two RSLs like to sit on my lap. All of them are friendly though, and the pullets should start laying in August.

Deanne

It is the Madagascar Game. And before you say it Tara I refuse to call them by that French name!! There are still some pure Mad. Games in SE Asia high in the mountains of Viet Nam and Cambodia. They are a highly intellegent bird that will take care of family above all.

Here is a specimin that is mounted in a museum somewhere in the North of France.

And here are three drawings, I believe that the pen and ink of the pair was done in the 1800s and the color one was done in the 1920s. The other one looks pretty modern to me.

Roll out nest boxes is a sure cure. After an egg is layed it rolls to the front of the box where the hen can't reach it. As others have suggested feed can be a factor as can boredom. Got a hay net like is used in horse stalls? They work great for hanging a head of cabbage in them to let the hens play. After they get used to it raise it so they have to make just a small jump to reach it. It's like getting a cardboard box for kids, keeps them entertained for days. No hay net? Drill a hole through the stem and hang it by a heavy cord. Either way they will like it.

still playing catch up, like the idea of the cabbage- since mine are staying locked up more, might be a good idea for them, also heard about putting a frozen jug in front of a fan, and that should drop temps a bit

Usually when something like that happens it is the fault of your internet provider. They either lost a line or replaced/upgraded some equipment. They do what they have to do and never tell anyone that they are going to do anything.

We get calls all of the time, from all over the state, with something like this and when we try to connect it works fine. Just the luck of the draw but it sure makes us look good!

So the genetic roots of NN go back to the ancient Orient.

Hello Folks,
First time I've been on all day! I have been busy with all sorts of stuff, inside and outside.

NN Breeder, I do like my NN chicks alot but I already can tell it sure is different than my Cochins; it pecked me hard when I moved them to a bigger brooder.

I have got to get some pics of my birds to put on the thread. They sure don't look much like games though.
One of my recent hatches hatched white! It now has a little blue in it's tiny pin feathers but it's fluff is quite white, not a speck of yellow or blue. When I first found it under the surrogate mother I was shocked, she and all her other chicks are black. It's true mother is a Black Mottled and the roo was a strongly colored Mille Fleur! Could it be a splash? The mottled hen came from a flock of Blues, Blacks and Mottles. The chick is really unusual looking and really pretty. Has anyone seen a white chick? - got to get some pics.
