***OKIES in the BYC III ***

There should have been little potatoes under the vines whether they were green, yellow or brittle brown. We start stealing new potatoes under our vines when they begin to bloom. I suspect that there was too much fertilizer/nitrogen in the mix of soil and you got all tops and very little spuds. Were there even any the size of marbles?

One!!!!!!!! For the whole tower. And not the big marble, the little marble. (need a smiley w/ a magnifying glass)

I had planned to work in the garden / yard today, but my niece came over w/ my great niece so we had a baby photo shoot instead.

Incubator report.... Candled first 84 eggs that were put in 30 got kicked out. 54 good. This kinda suprised me, I expected more bad. Am happy I was wrong. Some of the bad eggs probable my fault. I started saving eggs to early in anticipation of getting it, and it took longer for them to ship than I expected. ( they clearly state on website, DONT SAVE EGGS TILL INCUBATOR ARRIVES, but hey I was in a hurry) So some of these eggs had some age on them. Also noticed I kicked out alot of my cornish bantam eggs. I hope my rooster is doing his job. As heavy as he is, I will have to watch him more closely. Now I am a chicken pervert, watching my little chickens do there thing. Oh the shame of it all. I put 28 more eggs in the bator after kicking out the bad ones. So it is about full again. With the egg turners in it and not useing the top trey because I use it for my humidity bowl of water and keep my digital therm and humidity read out on top shelf also it holds 123 eggs. I have about 60 outside under hens. I am so ready to start looking at biddys running around the place.

My first time to dehydrate raspberries and it was a suprise, they don't dry chewy and leathery like cherries, but crisp and airy like a puffed cereal.

Cool! I just finished dehydrating some of our onion crop, and am now dehydrating some of the garlic crop. It smells like a pizza factory in my house right now.

This is my first year w/ a dehydrator, and so far it is way cool. I hate canning, so I plan on preserving by freezing and dehydrating mostly.

Afternoon everyone! I was wondering if anybody near Mounds might be interested in a beautiful little banty rooster. I got him the other day but I really need a BCM rooster, and a lady I know has one. I don't think there will be enough room for both of them. Let me know if anyone is interested

I'll even let him go for free. He's black and white and the guy told me he's pretty young, under a year for sure.

UpcDazy....I opened the top of the little cage on the way home and the SL Polish roo popped right out and rode a while on top of the cage. Then when I pulled to a stop at an intersection, he moved to the seat and then up on my arm where he rode all the way home...chirping to me and looking around like he did this every day.
Hubby thinks he is "really cute"....especially when Polish Prince Wilhelm walked up on my shoulder and gave a little crow. He has eatten out of my hand, drank water from a cup Roger held and Prince Wilhelm has stolen our hearts. Even Gracie the dog has decided that she will be his protector and wouldn't let Red near him.
Right now Prince Wilhelm is in with the two White Crested Lavendar Polish and the others little pullets his age.

My neighbor is just going to have to pick one of my other little roos to replace her Silkie roo. She and her husband will come over tomorrow night to pick one out.
