***OKIES in the BYC III ***

It is soooo hot ourside I think the grass is schriveling before my eyes.
Started at 6:30 am getting the growout pen cleared out so hubby could move it into place with the tractor. Put the grow -out babies on the grass ...They were like kids in the candy store. A few were stunned and just wiggled their toes on the grass for a while before leaping into the air to try out their wings.
Then we put together the dog pen panels and used a t post in a strategic location. Then up with the cattle panels. The arch is supported by 8 feet of an old portable cattle pen panel that BIL suggestd rather than constructing a center support from wood....works great. Released the 4- 5 month olds into this bigger pen while we finished the outside. Up went the cloth to shade the bed. The fabric is from the 80s and has been in my MIL's barn ...it was originally purchased to use as shade cloth on her tomatoes and never got used....I pulled about 25 yards so far and have not made a dent in the bolt!
Anyway...here are a few (understatement)pictures....will finish out the top sides with chicken wire and a PVC pipe for a support to match the curve of the growout pen at the gate. Right now the teens don't know they can fly over the 4 foot fence and we need some cooler temps this evening to work on it. Need to make a suitable coop for the teens that is raised but in the meantime have a large dog cage with a cover until I can get the coop built. Plan on using some of the shutters from the house we saved back when we replaced them last year. We have a big tarp we can put over the top to keep off rain ( what is that?) and to block more sun.
You have to duck to get in the gate

Ice in the water feeder is a cool place to hangout

Thank you...it's a work in progress...I wish we had more trees around the barn. Hubby wants to build a new equipment building south of the barn and wants to include some pens for hens in the end....will be close to where this pen is now. Because he wasn't sure what he wanted, we postponed planting trees....that was 7 years ago...those trees would be a nice size now. Shade cloth is essential this tie of year., along with burlap bags that can be soaked with water.

I have pair of Buff Orps I would be willing to sell. I live in north central Okla. I think I may have a pic of them. Will see. They are a year old or a little less, they came from Poco Pollo. Nice birds, I just scrapped the Orp Prject I was working on!!! Lynn

Bowhunt do you go fishing with your bow?? YOU guy's having another sale soon??I injoy reading about peep going to sale's an wat they seen..
My kin from Muskogee like bowhunting i couldnt hit the barn...

I do a LOT of bowfishing! Im going tomorrow night in fact. We are usually putting our boat in the water as people are bringing theirs in. We usually come back in around 5am, hit Dennys in mcalester, then go home and sleep the Saturday away, then do it again that nite. Since I hit my 30s, staying up all night now involves an energy drink or two and some Little Debbies...

Our swap went pretty good. I've gotten some emails from people off Craigslist asking when we are gonna have another swap. It'll probably be this fall after I get back from Australia. Just don't think the summer months are good for outdoor swaps. If I need to sell any pigeons or bantams, ill just take em to Wister until we do a fall swap.

That sounds like fun ../ Wat breed of pigoun's do you have i like pigoun's ,,Geting a trans put in my old truck this week an will come down that way wen it cools of..to some sale an swap's...
