Evening Okies. hope everone had a good fathers day. Sold most of my young chickens yesterday moved my young Orpingtons to the pen my Cochins were in, it still had my bro's. small black tailed jap in that pen. It was funny watching a 5 inch tall hen establishing dominance over an 8 inch tall Orp. cockerel. All were happy today. Spent most of the weekend outside moving chickens and working on vehicles, extra money for easy work on other peoples vehicles mostly. Had fun talking to P&B, Carla and Gerald after the auction yesterday. Sorry P&B forgot your friends name.

I googled em too and it seems i do not have an ideal yard for them. Way to many trees and no water near us. I think i'm going to get a couple crow dummies to put around the yard. I found some at Cabela's that have real feathers and are motion activated with small, but realistic movements. They also sell a CD of a crow and hawk fight. If that doesn't deter those dang hawks, my next move will be to make my yard as hill billy as possible! Gonna string Cd's from the house to a couple trees! lol

At least my girls and boys are now very careful when out! Every time they see any bird fly over they run for the coop! Poor things are rather traumatized!

My grandparents had Purple Martins, closest water was a pond about 1/4 mile away except for mt GMA's pans she put water in for her chickens. They helped control mosquitoes too.
My SIL has the Martin house my GPA built in the early 70's as a decoration now, glad it is still in use somehow.

Pulled 20 chicks out of the incubator last night and have more hatching.

I also put the 8 dozen hatching eggs that were acquired at the Newcastle auction, into the incubator.

The Bedre Chocolate company's retail outlet, that is just off of I35 at an Ada exit, had those a few years ago. Wonderful

When I googled Bedre Chocolates, I saw that they are made in Paul's Valley. Uh oh. I really didn't need to know that those wonderful chocolates are made closer to OKC than Ada.

Good morning everyone!

I hope everyone is staying cool... Storms coming thru western and central oklahoma this evening...

I have lost a few critters due to the heat, even with monitoring fresh water and air flow....

I have a guinea and a duck sharing a nest of about 60 eggs... Dont know how they do it...

I have my concession and registration booth from the FLETCHER auction for sale... $250.00 if anyone would be interested in it...

We also have a stud colt... mom APHA registered and dad APHA/AQHA registered.. 14 Months old and halter broke...

I may have a large incubator (Will have to talk to husband about a price) for sale as well... It is a sportsman... 3 trays for hatching/incubating.... Works well, I just enjoy using the smaller type....

Good morning all, I slept in till 7am this morning, this is my last paid vacation day, I have used up all of my five weeks paid vacation now, this is probably the last time in my life I will have five weeks of paid vacation as my company is closing down by the end of Dec. it is sad that I probably won't find a job that will even offer paid vacations much less be able to build up to five weeks paid again!!!! This is how the world is turning, most employers do not offer paid vacations any more and if they do it is only a week or maybe two!!! I put in over half my life at Mercruiser, 28 years to earn the five weeks paid vacation!!! I will truly miss working there when it is gone, I have enjoyed working there even with some of the trials a tribulations, lots of hard work, but I have made a lifetime of friends there and I will find another job somewhere and carry on with life. I am too young to retire and feel to old to start over but start over I will as I have a family to take care of and a great hobby of raising chickens and pigs to keep funded!!! I am off today to sell a pickup load of scrap metal so I hope everyone has a wonderful day, try to stay out of the sun and the wind lest you end up a scarecrow!!!!LOL Lynn
