I have a few brooder boxes in an old metal shed, it is fully shaded @ all times plus keep a shop fan running. If I hose it down the temp drops 5 degrees instantly. On these way hot days we have hosed it off @ least 3 times each afternoon. Pretty sure it helps that I am hosing down the fan too, so it is blowing cool water. I haven't used any of misters with the chickens this yr like I used to in town. Think think the are about $20 @ lowes & they used to help bunches. Now that we have a well I am trying to be more careful withy eater usage during this drought. First summer with the well & don't want to run it too low.
Out here NW and west of Blanchard we set on top of a very large aquafer and they tell us that we will never run out of water. You might want to chewck with the DEQ and see what you look like. They say that the S. Canadian River is part of this "underground" river system and that is why it has a lot of dry spots in it during the summer time. The water is flowing underground.
I did pull up a map of aquafers on the web showing all teh large aguqfers in Oklahoma. I think it was linke dto the DEQ site.
