I've never drank goats milk but roasted goat and goat cheese are yummy!

I was sittin in my recliner earlier today. I heard what sounded like growling coming from my patio door. I jumped up thinking my chickens in the backyard were under attack....only to find my cat Blackjack sound asleep against the door snoring VERY loudly.

I have ate goat all my life, grew up on it. I can babeque it or fix burgers out of it, and I gaurantee you will like and think it is beef. Most of the people that say they dont like goat meat, decided they didnt like it before the first taste.

I was actually looking forward to eating the hateful billy! That is until I tasted him.​

When we were leaving Falls Creek I saw a bus that said "Panhandle Baptist Association"
I was thinking wow that is gonna be a long drive back home for those kids.
That must be some good cake if you are driving three days for it. Why is it really gonna take you three days? Are you gonna B&B a few times on your way out? May be stop and see the bats fly or something? Maybe its just that its only seven hours but seems like three days.
If you want to strike up a conversation with folks out that way why not take a little tree along with you for "Show and Tell!
Be careful! I hear tell there is a crazy man that lives in Hooker that has been known to throw pigeons at people.

I'm back! When I was in high school out there in the Panhandle I remember the Baptist kids talking about Fall's Creek. I thought it must be some summer remedial program that they had to go to, since none of us Methodists ever went. Actually, it took the three days to get out there, set up production equipment, sneak around so my aunt wouldn't know I was there, etc. I stopped on the way back this morning and checked on my dad's chickens in his new Hen House Salon- he has about 100 young white leghorns in a nicely paneled new house complete with automatic waterers, a screened-in door on one side and access to a very large run on the other. All his birds looked healthy and happy.

The tree idea would have been a good show-and-tell item, Monty - as would have been a jug of rainwater - they need rain out there! I waived at all the signs that said "Hooker" on them as I sped past!

Got shade up for the garden box planted in red cabbage, lettuce and fall cauliflour. The sun this time of year just scalds cabbage.
Had some stuff on hand so:
Drilled three holes in two 4 foot 2 x 4s and used three 17.5 foot lengths of small diameter PVC. Secured the 2 x 4 s to the south sides of two bed and arched the PVC lengths into those holes. Attached some fabric for shade using PVC clips made from the next PVC size up. Used stakes to anchor the little structure. Works great....of course will need a wind test. Can post a picture later.

Would make a great temporary outdoor shade for birds.

Having dinner this evening with my HS reunion committee...40th reunion in July...where has the time gone?


Sorry about the racoon attack...I hate those critters. We use cat food in a cage trap and a 22.

I have never ate old billys before, but can imagine they would be like eating an old Boer hog. Young weather or young doe fixed right is up toward the top of meat as far as I am conserned. When I was about 12 or so, I had an old billy get up on his back legs and come down right in the middle of my back butting me to the ground. Yes, the billys can be dangerous and mean at times.
