Coydogs are very rare as dogs and Coyotes just don't get along together in the wild. Things such as lighting and distance can make a dog look like a Coyote. Site after site that I have went to have all said that the hybrids were very rare but do occur, especially when the Coyote is expanding their range, probably due to a lack of females to mate with. But due to genetic abnormalities will breed themselves out of existance in about 3-4 generations.
