***OKIES in the BYC III ***

It is probably a young one that hasn't defined it's hunting methods yet. If you hadn't seen it I would have guessed a stray dog.

Do you think it could be a coydog?

Coydogs are very rare as dogs and Coyotes just don't get along together in the wild. Things such as lighting and distance can make a dog look like a Coyote. Site after site that I have went to have all said that the hybrids were very rare but do occur, especially when the Coyote is expanding their range, probably due to a lack of females to mate with. But due to genetic abnormalities will breed themselves out of existance in about 3-4 generations.

Morning Okies:

We've got wind here. I watched to big white egrets, or maybe they were herons, as they fought the wind to fly south. They made slow progress and eventually landed near the pond. All the cows seam to be leaning. If I could get an ariel photograph, I think every cow body would be leaning south, into the wind. I watched a big SLW hen, who turned too quickly, catch the wind in her tail. She did a funny moon walk for three or four steps before realizing that she was sporting a sail. She's walking sideways now and getting around okay.

Good morning everyone.
I hope everyone is ready for the heat. Supoosed tobe 1-4 to 106 heare today depending who you listen to.
Still ten degree s cooler that wweha the folks had out west yesterday. I saw where Teache's town of Hooker was 112 and some places topped that.
Just wanted to say hi and I am gonna try and post more when I can.
I enjoy reading the posts but I know I need to post more to keep things going. It is easy to just read and not post.
OK gotta go hit the heat.

Yes, it's going to be a scorcher here in Tulsa, too. The poor chickens are panting. I froze a gallon jug of water and going home at noon to put it in the pen. Maybe they'll nestle up to that jug to keep cool.

It was nice meeting you Poco Pollo on Saturday. The chickens are fitting in nicely. That rounds out the four chickens that I wanted.

Everyone, try to stay in the shade today.

As for me, I'm staying inside with the air conditioner cracked down. I'm a wimp when it comes to hot weather and I'm a Texas girl who grew up without air conditioning. How did we ever do it?

Gerald and I bought several flats of tomato and pepper plants from Ross Seed in Chickasha yesterday. All their plants are half price. I was amazed they still have quite a few plants left. We also bought 4 pecan trees, bloom set, tomato end rot spray, seeds, and some fertilizer.

It's too hot to plant during the day, so when I got home from work after midnight, we took flashlights and planted the veggie plants in the dark. Luckily, the wind was blowing hard enough to keep all the mosquitos away.

I need to soak the areas where we'll plant the pecan trees. Our dirt is rock hard in this heat. Also need to put fence around each of the pecan trees. Our fainting goats are masters at knocking down small trees and eating them.

Our birds & other outdoor critters are somehow surviving the heat. I feel so sorry for them. Need more trees, although we're blessed with many big old trees on this old homestead.

Everyone please take care & stay hydrated!

Morning all. I got out this morning before it got hot and did some chicken pen building. Or creative rearranging if you will. That is the one down side to getting new birds, where to put them. Wind is blowing high here today, but is out of the north. Went outside about 10 laswt night and that ole wind was still like a furnace. Lost my second chicken yesterday. First one was several days ago, probable my fault. He got lose, and I had to catch him because it would be bad if he got around a couple of the roosters I have on barrels. I figure me trying to catch him in the heat caused his death. After I got him put back where he belonged I checked a while later and he died. The one yesterday was dead about mid day. I introduced some new hens in the pen and she has always been a little winch. I figure she got to hot trying to show the new hens she was boss. Goes back to the old saying, what goes around, comes around. They should all just get along. She was one of my white red lace cornish. I hope I got some pullets out of here in the brooder now, she was a nice hen.
