***OKIES in the BYC III ***

OK on a simulate roof??????? Help me understand this better. How big are they & what is the output?

the units are roof mounted, at the peak. They measure 42 inches across at the base and are 36 inches tall. Each one built to match the pitch of the roof, so everyone is custom. I have them working in a 3.5kw. Planned on 5 kw but not completed yet.

the 3.5 takes a 9 mph wind for max output and will produce well up to 30 mph. with auto braking in too high of winds.

The Simulated roof is 6 ft long section of roof mounted on a structure I can roll around so it can seen and displayed. I will try to post a pic.

When we looked into roof mounted units (a few years ago) there was a huge noise / vibration problem w/ them, does your set up account for that?

that would be gear boxes, blade designs, and lack of vibration dampeners. these are direct drive with dampeners between mechanical assembly and air director. th blade pitch was also modified there are many designs out there but nothing else like this.
you see after a year of playing with a design a person like me will work out the bugs and solve several problems, I always have to find something to do when I get bored and this is often how it goes.

I've lost two of my squash plants to bugs. I guess I'll plant some more. Our corn should be ready by the weekend. We just bought one of those food baggers that sucks all the air out and seals shut. Worked really well on the six cockerels we put up on Monday. I'll be using it on extra peppers, corn, and okra. BTW, we just discovered grilled okra. Take your whole pods, lightly coat with oil, butter or spray, salt and season, and lay on the grill. Grill as you would other veggies. Ummm mmmm. I like it better than fried okra.

Mmm, that sounds good! I love low-fat okra recipes!

Elwood,
that is about right we are close to the lake and stays a touch cooler here but still 106. I'm just glad its not too humid on top of the heat.
If you will string up some misters (they are pretty cheap) the birds will stay cool with few problems.

Gotta try that grilled okra !!! This bunch loves
fried, mixed in stew, pickled,...so this sounds
good.

Gees, hot here in Tahlequah, but not as bad
as you guys on south. In fact, has clouded
over a little, so maybe there's hope. Am
soooo thankful for 14 mile creek that crosses
our place. Bill is firing the irrigation pump about
every 3 days and flooding the garden, but
the "bug" fight is unreal this year.

So far, ..... the birds are surviving this heat.
We were soooo late getting the gourd vines
planted along the hoop houses, Bill has
resorted to pulling tarps over the tops of
the shade cloth to help a little. Once the
vines get going they should really help.

Take care in this heat. Surely our turn will
be over soon.

Have a good one!

I bought a set of misters last year and they make such a muddy mess I only use them if I have too, everything seems to be handling the heat better than me LOL I have only lost 2 hens to the heat a couple weeks ago and last week I lost 4 bunnies that were still in the nest box the other 6 were hot but survived I took the box out even though it was a bit early they were just starting to open their eyes, Got everything watered and wet down around them to help. The temp shows to have dropped to 106 and the max for the day on my thermometer says it got up to 111

no losses yet- have been wetting things down, ice next to the nest box- and dunking their feet in water- is it a good idea if a hen gets overheated to give electrolites? also, one of the nn chicks has a nip on her little neck, is bluekote ok to use? they are a little over a week old
