Sorry to hear about your little pigeon. I've lost a lot of eggs to snakes, but so far no babies have been eaten. I caught a bull snake under the roost in one of my pens last week. The snake was looking up at the roost as if deciding which chicken to eat. He was in the rooster pen, though, so the roosters were looking down at the snake and then back at each other as if to say, "Boys. I think our take-out order just arrived." I startled the snake and he took off before I could get a shovel. It was funny watching the roosters after that. They strutted and crowed as if they had been the ones to make the snake leave.

I don't see how anyone that started out here could end up there, LOL. Just kidding. We still have green but is it quickly drying up, I hope we get some real rain soon. I keep waiting for the fires to start up around here.

What is it with bull snakes and rat snakes?!? They are plentiful and BIG!

Still haven't found my two ceramic eggs that disappeared last week, but haven't had any more eggs leave by other than human hands. Bet we find those eggs inside a dessicated snake body under something we move this fall.
I'm not going poking around for it in this heat ... as long as it leaves my babies alone.

114.2 by our thermometer set in the shade... pouring sweat when you step outside.
111 at my MILs in Choctaw.

Is ther any hope for my tree's that the grasshopper's eat the leaf's off of .I waterd thim good an cut the grass back short around thim ..

I love my birds but wish I had a few less of them too! Everytime I go to take care of them I wish I had less.

I want fruit tree's, hope to get some to plant this fall.

Official temp is 111 right now. I knew it was going to beat the predicted temp of 105 when it hit 102 at 11:30 am.

Mike, are you taking a break from selling at Mary's? These auction people are going to go broke if you stop going to auctions.

Where are you going to get fruit trees in the fall? I would so much prefer to plant them in the fall, but have never found any available until spring.
