good story Mike .. i remember hunting with a carbide light when i was a kid then moved up to a headlight with a 6 volt battery.man i thought i had a super light till i went hunting with a guy that had a wheat light.. then i had to have one of them.so i saved my money and bought a used one from a guy. i used that old light for years now i build the high volt lights and sell them.. would love to meet you sometime Mike and talk coondogs and chickens...

Robin - I've been waiting for cooler weather to pick up your gosling. When I bring the gosling, I could swap the blue cockerel, if you want a pullet in his place. I'll let you know as soon as I've got a travel date.

Joe - I'm interested in the New Hampshires, so keep me on your list. I'm looking forward to the September swap. Let's hope it's cooler so lots of people will attend. Heat advisories are keeping a lot of folks indoors.

morning guys- somebody needs to do a rain dance! this weather is horrid! out to work on the pens till its too hot...

no problem~ its entirely too hot to even consider traveling- and dave will spend the morning under the hood of the car trying to figure out what is going on- right now we have no transportation at all... he is a super beautiful guy though! and a sweetheart

Joe don't throw anything at me but are the hackle feathers black-tipped? I can't see that they are in the pics. The NH reds have a red columbian pattern on the feathering. Body type looks excellent. I bet ya'll are going to tear it up at shows this fall.

sixshooter )I used acarbide lite for along time always had to carry a stran of screen door wire to clean the tip. Those lites were pretty good for making a look and show his eyes.when wheat lites came out my buddy bought one and sold me his old coon beam . I had a hame strap for acollar a piece of rope with a harness snap acoonbeam lite i thought that was all good but it still didnt stop my dog from runnin trash . Later in the nineties i started selling supplies and coonbuster lites ,i retired and dont do it anymore .I cant belive all the high tech coon hunting stuff out their now.I think theyll have to start breeding dogs with longer necks to get all their collars on

Welcome, we are just West of ya'll in the Cashion/Kingfisher area. Personally I think that you need some Naked Necks and Oriental Games, wonderful birds.

Its neat that a lot of these chicken folks are also old coon hunters too. I had hounds most of my life. Have one old Faulkner cur now. I cant hunt anymore, but he was my buddy and couldnt sale him when I sold the rest. He will tree coon and squirrel. When I was a kid we carried a gas lantern to walk by and 2 cell flashlight to shine trees with. I quit hunting last year. When I quit some nights I could hardly find the coon with my high dollar 21 volt light. Its amazing how as technology progresses, out sences decress. I used to be pretty good with directions. Carried GPS on dogs and to hunt by, also use one in vehicle to drive with. Handiest thing I ever used. But now without one I cant figure North from south or were Im at to save my life.

Very pretty birds Joe. The hens are stunning and the roo very handsome!!

How big do the Yokahamo's get? That rooster is really striking...love the second photo where the irridescent green shows.

they are a little smaller then a leghorn in body but are longer from head to tall ( way longer )
