That's what happens when you try to remember too many things while typing.

Looks like our closest neighbor lost his house to today's fire. We have about half an acre of burned pasture, and the power pole is black for about 8, maybe 10 feet from the ground. The tank trucks and crews are still camped out at the west edge of our pasture, but it looks like they're finished for the day.

This shows a stand of trees in front of our neighbor's house. The sirens were blaring, so I knew there were lots of people there. I hope no one was injured.

The wind would die then pick back up again. Each new gust sent the fire closer to the road, and our west pasture.

A strong wind pushed the flames across the road and into the north west corner of our pasture. The power pole caught fire, as did the wooden fence posts. We're replacing that section of the fence soon anyway. I hope the wind break isn't too badly damaged.

This is at our gate. Each big gust of wind ignited a new section of grass. I was worried about our round bales, since they are just to the left of where I stood to take this picture.

Her's the photo I just took. There are still crews camped out at our west border. I want them to stay there until they can take their shoes off and walk barefoot through the ashes. I hope they haven't run over our fruit and nut trees.

The doctor glued and taped over the opening and said hubby's neck will heal with no stitches. We need to keep it clean of course and change the dressing each day over the next week. He may need to apply pressure in order to speak until it heals...so far he hasn't had to do that. We are ecstatic and there is a lot of rejoicing going on with family and friends who have prayed for him over the past three years. The robotic surgeries he had are considered new technology in treating sleep apnea...for him it's been tremendous improvement.

Praise be to "The Great Physician" who has listened to prayers, guided doctors and has overseen the progress.

Coral stay safe. Hope it doesn't flare back up tonight! The fires this year have been awful!

Keep hoping a few huricanes might come to the gulf & bring us some rain. Never thought I would hope for a hurricane.

Just saw those photos Coral...my heart stopped for you when you mentioned your hay bales!! That is our greatest fear now when we see smoke...precious gold for our livestock.
Hope your neighbor's family is okay...no one hurt. Losing a home is horrible but losing a family member would be devastating.

Add my wishes for your safety Coral! So terrible about the neighbors house. It must be awfull to loose your home like that.

NanKat so happy for your husband. I know that must be a great relief for all of you! Give him a hug for us!My wife has a picture of a doctor sitting in his office looking at a medical book and standing behind him is Jesus reaching over his shoulder turning pages! I think that is so awesome and like to believe that is the way good medicine works!

Wow, this is great two BYC folks with good news for the day.
Poco glad the fires missed you and NanaKat, it is great hearingg your husband is doing better and continuing to improve.

I amde Stephs day, sat and pitted a bunch of fresh cherries and made a pie from from scratch for her. I don't know if I'll cook dinner but I will still have desert.

Not nearly enough is ever said about the hard work of the fire dept's in rural areas. Most of the time it is crews made up of voluteers that get no money for being there. Fruit and nut trees grow back, firefighters and homes saved do not. God bless our countrys firefighters. It is like being a cop, a very thankless job. Guy
