***OKIES in the BYC III ***

How many G pigs do it take to eat a bushel and a half of grass. My son is going to college in a couple weeks, hence I have no one to mow when he leaves. Might get me a herd of them cute little guys to do the job. I seen your pictures of them and they look pretty neat. Reminded me of that kid movie that came out here while back where the G.pigs were Gmen.

I just got back from the local feed store. The owner told me it's going to be at least 108 today. I think we're almost there. He helped me load four cattle panels, three bags of layer pellets, and three bundles of T-posts. By the time we finished, both of us were drenched in sweat. He said feed prices are going to increase, again, and that it's been hard getting full orders in from the mill in Stillwater. He's going to send someone up to get chick start and the other feeds he's already run out of. I want to buy local, to support our hometown businesses, but that's going to be impossible if they don't get the products in that they have ordered. The shortages of hay, grain, and water are going to start biting everyone. I'm already feeling sore.

He did give me something I don't often get when I buy feed at a big chain store in town: friendly conversation. In the few minutes it took him to figure the bill in a carbon receipt book, he'd shared a joke, a story about a local farmer, and his opinion about the debt ceiling debate. He shook my hand as he gave me my receipt, and when he told me to come back this week to get chick start, he smiled really big and reminded me to tie my cattle panels before I let down my tail gate. Support your local businesses if you can, folks. They're an important part of our farming communities.

We may have something that would show this fall, depends on what you are looking for, and which shows yu are trying to go to, as age will play a role with the cockrells.

Howdy maam, welcome to this board. Great bunch here. Shame you didnt make it to Guy Rose auction this past sat. I sold 5 hens and a rooster in Bantam white leghorns. They were all show quality and the rooster was probable as nice of bantam leghorn as I have seen. I needed the space and they werent my breed so took them there and about gave them away. I might be able to sale a trio of nice cornish bantams, hadnt decided yet, I need to sex the ones I have gotten hatched to see what I have in replacements coming on. There is a guy south of you that gets on here some by the name of GotGame that has some nice modern and OEG bantams. I dont know if he has any for sale at the time. There is a man over here by Freedom Okla that doesnt get on here (or maybe he does I dont know for sure) that raises real nice Modern bantams. If interested I can PM you his name. Good luck on your venture, and welcome again.

Well now, isn't that just my luck!! Going over to the sale had briefly crossed my mind, but the lovely weather we've been having kinda talked me out of it. lol I've been to that sale once in the last 10 years and that was only a few months ago. There were some nice bantams there that day, but I was on a mission of buying some laying hens and didn't wait for them to sell. I was impressed that there were birds there of that quality and kind of figured it was something that didn't happen all that often... maybe I was wrong! Sorry I missed them, sounds like they'd have filled the bill nicely. If I don't find something before too long, I may have you pm me that name.
Thanks for the friendly welcome and the info. Looks like I found a great site! Looking forward to getting to know everyone.

OH MY WORD...

If someone could willfully neglect animals... their conscience will more than likely neglect that of humans..

I say call the Authorities... I have dealt with Horse rescue in the past and some cases yes the folks needed help but Pride was their downfall..

H2o2 will help bring that calf back to life.. I will get a hold of my Uncle to see what the measurements are to water

Call the Sheriffs Department immediately!! That is animal cruelty. Be sure to take photos if you can of the surroundigs (no feed, water and padlocked door) and the dead animals. I retired from the Sheriffs Dept. and they can help.

Just looking for something for our county fair which is mid Sept. Doesn't really have to be any particular breed, but we've had sebrights and blk rosecombs before, so I guess I'm still kinda partial to them. Let me know if you think you have anything that might work. Thanks!!

I have Silver Sebrights that will make that based on age, 1 cockrell and two pullets, 1 hen, all are very nice. I may have a few Golden Pullets but the golden cockrells I would have will be younger.

That sounds great! The silvers are my favorites anyway. How much would you want for them? Pm me if you'd rather not post the price on here.
