***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I called Dept of Ag today to get started on getting my flock NPIP tested. She told me where to find forms, and was going to contact their man in Woodward so he could contact me about coming out to test birds. I didnt ask her, and dont see on form. What are Guineas considered. Chicken, gamebird ??? I only have 1 grown guinea, but have almost 40 that are a couple months old. Thanks

Yes the lack of mosquitos is nice. Sucks though that all the animals that might have died from west nile, have stroked out due to the heat. Just goes to show, man or beast (or bird) we aint getting out of here alive.

Hi to all my fellow Okies! Been lurking on the site for several months now getting as much info as possible. We currently have 24 chicks (9 - 4 week olds and 15- 1 week olds) mostly Silver and Gold Laced Wyndottes with 8 Goldenn Duckwing Phoenixs. Currently have all in the house in 2 seprate brooders as it seems just too hot to move them outside yet!

Hopefully someday it will cool down here, my wife said if it's not cooler by Nov. 1, we're taking the dogs and the chickens and moving somewhere North!!

They only test birds that are at least 4 months old. There are separate areas on the description lists of poultry for guineas, turkeys and ducks, so I suspect that guineas are just considered "guineas" within the overall umbrella of "poultry"

I agree I have luckily only lost 2 so far, I can't imagine loosing 49. Although the other day at work when I was out on the boat the thermometer which reading are suppose to be accurate to .01 degrees, showed 146. I think air temp was 113, then the extra from the water reflection, and I still have no tan.
