***OKIES in the BYC III ***

That girl's going to break some hearts in a few years. Gorgeous AND she fishes!?
This heat is unbearable. The weather on my computer just said it's 117 in Guthrie, OK and 102 in Phoenix, AZ. We'll have to move to Arizona if we want cooler temps. Pathetic.
I've still got 4 wk old Silkies, Polish, Marans, Cochins & turkeys living inside in the AC. I can't even put them outside for play because they pant so bad. They're too used to the AC now. We keep cold water in a pool for the 6 SexLink hens and they sure use it. It'll sure be nice to get them all outside when it cools off. We're looking into a swamp cooler or SOMEthing for next summer when all the birds will be grown. People can make fun of me all day long, I'll take the ridicule as long as they're comfortable.
Haha! I stole the ice cream truck pic, too. Makes me wonder what on earth people DID 100 yrs ago in heat like this. There were fires up by Tulsa (anyone around there?). How terrifying. At this rate the fire would spread from one end of the state to another and no one could put it out.

I haven't shown yet, but will soon if the show in pryor gets put on.

My show fowl are d'uccle, malay, cubalaya, bantam asil, and bantam shamo.

Years back showed chickens here in some of the Okla shows. Showed Pigeons all over the USA. Getting back into showing chickens again. Will hit some of the closer shows with RIR Bantams, Barred Rock Bantams, Cornish bantams, then in the bigger shows Asil, Shamo, Bantam Shamo, Ko Shamo, Then hopefully in the next year or two my Madagascar game will be worth showing. I have some pretty good prospects now, but they need to grow some.

Just lost another welsummer to the heat. They ate dd birds she thinks they ate the preties of all birds (at least for the moment) Thinking welsummer might not be a good chicken for here. Lost 2 to the heat, one killed itself getting stuck in the tree stump yesterday, and 3 to coyotes. Think we are down to 14 now. Pretty said since I have gotten them from 3 different sources to make sure I could select the birds w the darkest eggs. Of the 14 left 4 are Roos!!!!! Why do the Roos never die or disappear?

I still like pigeons and have had them since about 8 years old. Havent had any for a couple years now. I am sorta one tracked. I am concentrationg more on oriental game fowl now. I had Lahores for years, Won a national in that breed. Had Mookies for awhile. Had Reserve Grand at young bird National. I have had racing homers, rollers, parlors, fantails, indian fantails, jac's, capuchines, frillbacks and many more over the years. Made lots of friends in pigeons, but just decided to go with chickens for now. I was at a sale a week back and ended up with a couple pairs of giant homers. Had them a week and decided I needed the pen space for chickens so turned around and got rid of them. Maybe someday.

Got the show catalog for Crossroads today, it's getting close. Wish it would cool off so the birds would get in condition. Entry deadline is October 3. Can't wait, this is gonna be a dandy!!!

Sorry about everyone's losses. This has been terrible year for gardens, livestock and us; if it wasn't freezing it was flooding, if it wasn't flooding the sun was/is trying to incinerate us!! Haven't lost any birds today thank the Lord! Canadian citizenship is sure sounding tempting right now!
Glad I didn't plant any popcorn this year, I would have never gotten to harvest it before it popped!!!

Blessings and cooler weather to all,

Bo

Got my catalog yesterday .Hope it is as good as the last one was isure hate to miss it im still trying to put aguilt trip on jimmy and greg . Yesterday i lost two deiaware and one wheaton marans hens ive lost count i think ive lost twenty plus birds so far

Our chickens faired ok today, they are not liking it, but we lost a rabbit. My daughter raises Holland lops and one did not make it. I went to spray them down and she was half in the nest box and half out and real weak. We brought her in and tried to cool her down and it was just too late. She died inside though, in the cool.

I am ready for the heat to end. I do not want to loose anymore!

We did get 3 eggs today! I am not sure which crazy chickens went into the hot coop to lay an egg. If I were gonna lay an egg, it would be on the ground!
