***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I think that is a fungal infection. Something like favus, maybe?

looking that up now.... hmmmmm...fungus huh?

I just don't believe its fowl pox. You'd have to have a bad mosquito issue or have brought in a bird that had it. As far as I know, no one here has mentioned having it.

so treat it as a fungus then? i did dab betadine on it tonite, but will have to find something different for a fungal issue?

I haven't shown yet, but will soon if the show in pryor gets put on.

My show fowl are d'uccle, malay, cubalaya, bantam asil, and bantam shamo.

Ohhhh, those sound very exotic. Obviously I need to go brush up on my chicken breeds. I hope you get to show soon. Let me know how you do.
Good luck!!

Thank you! I have other breeds to show also, just have to do more breeding with them.

We only have 5 pullets outside - 2 of which are new to our place. When my hubby got home today, he grabbed all the birds and brought them in the house:) We had a 4x2 cage in the house so he put them in there with water and food for about an hour. It is just so hot. I think that helped cool them off. Hopefully, we can get a break soon????

I hope at least some of you got rain this evening, we didn't and it didn't look very promising for anyone around us. There were a few sprinkles, and some lighting, but all that did was ignite some fires. The smoke wasn't rising at all, so it looked like the whole country was on fire.
I'm so sad to read about everyone losing so many chickens, so far that's a bullet I've dodged, although I'm not sure how. Doing my best to keep the girls cool, but they pant so much I feel sorry for them. I'm scared everytime I go out to check on them.
I'm totally enjoying getting to know more about you all. Love the pics of your chickens, all the way from the fancy show chickens, to the fun pics. I will have to post some pics of my girls.
Hope we all get cooler temps and rain soon! Hang in there fellow bird lovers!

Don, seems we are paddling the same boat. Hate that you've lost that many birds. Keep on those boys of yours, they sure don't want to miss this show, I think it will be bigger and better than the last one. We need to get all the Okies there we can. The web site for Crossroads has a printable catalog the url is www.crossroadsofamericapoultryclub.com
I managed to keep all mine alive today in 111 degree heat, fans are running and water spraying.

Take care Don, see you soon.

Bo
