NanaKat you are so helpful with information. I know there will be alot of things that will be hard to come by this year! Crops that didn't make this year will have prices shooting up all over. Everyone around here is baling the corn fields to feed to livestock since the corn didn't make & there isn't much hay.

I can see keeping them inside the way you are. I wish I could do something more for my chickens but I have too many to have in the house & I'm pretty sure my DH would put me in a padded room if I started bring them inside to live instead of wash & doctor. LOL.

Thank the LORD for the overcast day here. It has kept the temp down for a while. I am sad to see that folks still don't have the good sense not to throw cigarettes out the window. I just don't understand that.

So sorry to hear of everyone's losses. I kinda hold my breath each time Vashi comes in from feeding, but so far only the two losses early on.

Especially sorry to hear of your losses, Annabell--you're such a sweet, dedicated and caring chicken keeper.

I have to say that I am glad that i had sold off most of my birds so i could redesign and build runs. Although it is a pain trying to start over and get the quality of stock that i had been working on. At least I guess i have less birds that I have to worry about now with this heat. I hope everyones stock survives this mess.

Double as soon as this weather breaks I plan to sale off most of mine except for the laying flock & show birds. I had alot of birds last winter & I dont' plan to do that again. If it weren't so hot I would do it now.

your hubby sounds like mine!! is it hard to shift the birds in and out?? if they aren't acclimated? i have 2 broodies, some recovering from bumble, and was trying to decide if it is bad on the ones outside i am fretting over, if it is harder on them to bring them in to cool down?

Not too hard to get the birds. We only have 5 outside right now. We take the pet carrier out and bribe them with some meat (they love ham and pork). He was able to get them 2 at a time. Took about 10 minutes. Definitely worth it if you are worried they are too hot. Depending on the heat today, we might do the same thing.​

OKLADO i had 43 quail hatch out of 49 eggs this hatch so im shure i will have more than i need fore my breeding plans i have 29 jombo bob wites 13 texas A&M for a earlyer hatch and 25 texas blue scall and 18 gambel or vally quail i can't tell the diferace in the 2 yet let me now wich breed you are interested in and i will save the extras for you
