Thats it, we need to have an election now. Or an extension of the title and position, I will serve as a Vice Chair to the enabling commitee, so long as P&B is teh chair person.

That settles it. If the folks who give children more and more birds, so that they can have good quality birds to show for 4-H are in the competition, I will cheerfully bow and hand over the title.

I think we need to form a Enabling comitte. I will serve as Vice Chair and you can be chairman, now we need regional delegates. Responsibilities will be plain and simple. i will also agree to act as the youth Program director for teh enabling comitee.

Oh, for those that have not fugured it out we are back from picking the pear tree again, another 300+ lbs of pears (5 5 Gallon Buckets, 1 50Lb feed sack full to teh top and 1 50Lb net Penut Bag over full and stretched out) and yet another tree even bigger to go next week. Now to find some good vine ripened Tomatoes I need the real sweet ones and at least a buschel so anyone has some tomatoes going let me kknow.

Our goal could be "a chicken for every family" and with chicken math they could actually have more than a pair to meet that goal.
We might have to assist some folks in deciding they want to raise chickens, but some of the fu fu breeds might go over well for general popularity. Even I like the silkies and they have feathered feet.

Jarvis, good luck on finding local tomatoes. They are hard to find - even at the farmer's markets. Hopefully, with the recent rain folks will be able to keep them alive until temperatures go down in September (or will that be October this year?)

that is what I am hoping for even in late fall they should start to produce again once temps start to drop. I finally found my grandmother old receipe for Tomatoe Preserves which I haven't been able to find since she quit making them in the early 90's. I must admit I miss that unique flavor.

Well I started on the new watering system today. Built on two 40 gallon plastic barrels that have auto top off, then pvc and nipples at three heights to make sure all the poultry can have access. Now if the nipples I ordered would ever get here. you know no matter how adult i try to be when i say new nipples or nipples i ordered i still have that 8th grade giggle.

At least 1 full chciken (based on proper Chicken Math) per resident in a household. We will need to introduce chciken math to city inspectors and enforcement personell so they can count correctly. I figure there is a breed and variety of chicken for everyone,

Environmental Impact: Positive
they help control weeds and bugs, provide fertizer in the yard without chemicals.

grocery Supply Chain impact: Positive
Local product easily accepable without the use of Fossil Fuels.
The added benefits I would have to calculate actual decrease in carbon emissions from not having to drive to and from teh store for eggs or meat, the products do not need to be deleivered to the store further reducing environmental impact.

Thats It. I'm announcing my canadacy for President when elected I promise to enact a new stimulus plan by providing every family with 6 layer chickens, 1 rooster and 25 broilers annully for 5 years.

There was a time when folks raised chickens in their basements, using a 4 tier system about the dimensions of a standard commercial brooder and about 4.5 - 5 feet tall . The top level had smaller food and water trays and smaller squares on the wire bottom over the tray, to put new chicks, and had a wafer regulated brooder warmer. The next level down was a little taller for head room of teens and the water and food trays were longer. The bottom two levels had enough head room for a grown large fowl chickens. It was a pretty cool, compact and efficient system.

Is that in addition to what each family may already have? Yay! Sounds like a good plan to me.

2 of my 3 NN hens I bought at the auction last night layed eggs all ready. Biggest chicken eggs I seen in a long time. People always saying, I want some laying hens. Suggest NNs, they say no they too ugly. I dont understand if they want eggs I thinkl I would go with the ones that put out the great big nice ones.
