Oh wait.....you didn't incubate or hatch the eggs....so that means you didn't really get 2 new chicks. Plus MJ has more than you...so subtract 10.
-2 plus -10 is negative-12. Hurry! Go get more chickens! The longer you stay in the negative numbers the faster they multiply. I figure if you don't go get 12 chickens TODAY you'll have to go get 24 tomorrow! Run!

My unplanned crazy long day yesterday seemed to never stop. Went to the anadarko sale. Lots of good deals @ the auction, didn't really buy anything. Went to the grocery store then headed back home. Found someone selling a green metal roof that had been removed off their home in the spring after a storm. Called the guy said about foot half stack of roofin metal 15 ft long. Meet dh & we go to pick it up. We arrive to metal scattered in the back of the barn. Didn't look like much. Then the guys wife said most of it was stacked beside the barn. Can't find it, she comes over, and it is burried in overgrown vines! We start moving the metal. It isn't 15 ft long. It is 24 ft long & we only brought a 16 ft trailer! Seriously would have brought a 40 ft trailer from one of our friends is we knew. Dh took some 16ft 2*6 & screwed them to the middle of the bed of his trailer to give extra support for the length of the metal. Then we spent 3 hours loading metal! Much more was there than the guy thought or knew. We didn't count it- guess we will as we unload. There are some 15 ft pc but at least 20 pc are 24 ft long. It fit side by side on the trailer. 2 stacks at least 2 ft tall each. Strapped it all down & could hardly pull it not sure if it was the weight being too but for the trailer or the length. Went 40mph the whole way home! Took over 2 hours to go what should take an hour! Thrilled on the great find but wasn't what we thought @ all. Now this weekend we have to unload it!!!!
Figure we have many projecs ahead. Chicken pens, well house, shed & maybe even a carport. It is a HUGE amout of stuff.

Did find out one neat thing. Petzold in Blair sales foam pieces made for the in side of exterior doors for $28 a pallet. said that is what they use inside the barns. Would work for the well house, but figure chickens will try to eat it!

Now I am goin to spend the morning doing nothing since I am still tired from last night.

**** forgot to say by the time we got home had a bunch deer out in the hay pasture. First I have seen this summer. Youth deer hunt is only about 6 wks away. Believe both of my girls plan on hunting this year. Would love to make a few batches of deer jerky.

We've had a trying Spring/Summer for both our family and poultry, hopefully on the upswing now.


I wanted to send a BIG Thank You!!!! to Maribeth, Monty and Les.

Our local 4-H and Children's fairs this year had almost triple the poultry participants!

Kid's were bringing me birds to test from 2 weeks up until 2 minutes to show. Previously they've only had about an hour the night before. Thanks to you all I had the supplies and the knowledge to get them all done without traumatizing anyone or mussing up their hard work. We wouldn't have had even half the kids we did without that.




So we've aided and abetted some new poultry addicts. Those we can help with stock, we have. However, we've snared a little 5 year old girl who has her heart set on bantam Cornish and MF D'Uccles. I know enough that OK is the place to go, but that's the extent I've been able to help her and her mom. Anyone know of a Jim Meffordz out of Muskogee or have suggestions on who she should contact that could help her get some trios? Any particulars to look for or be aware of?


Oh, and I still have something to send you Betsy, but I need to get some pics to go with. Mylie's little Unicorn is perfect for her, though she still insists he's a she. He's a spoiled little cuss and acts it.

Our Boys showed some of thier D'uccles last year and did quite well. They have I think 9 varieties of D'uccle
