MIchael I have had the roo a couple of months, I am still waiting on the pullets to be delivered. Yes they have no set pattern on colors, crest and combs. They can come out all sorts of ways. All the icelandics in the U>S> came from a flock of 7 birds that were hatched out several years ago by an importer. There are supposed to be only a few thousand left in the world. I like variety so they are right up my alley!

Thanks for the offer, they are pretty, but invasive and poisonous, so I think I'll pass on that one.

Just have to say I ate okra tonight!!!!!!

I harvested baby, tiny okra from my plants, like just over 1 inch long, pan seared them whole w/ butter, garlic and pepper. They may not have been my absolute favorite veggie ever, but they definately were good enough to eat again.

New guinea has wounded leg. I don't know how old the wound is. Yesterday I used a net to catch the birds with. I didn't examine them close, but even in the cage I noticed she was laying down & the other birds were stepping on her. Today I noticed she was limping real bad. Tonight after the guineas are roosting i went in to investigate further. Not sure if it is broke or what. She is able to roost & doesn't appear to be in pain other than the limp. We rinsed it & I covered the wound in tea tree oil. Any other thoughts? She is in my bathroom in a cage now.

Oh & as for thoughts on me not throughly checking her out sooner, have you tried to get in the cage with 5 guineas??? Catching them yesterday was crazy when I was catching them & once they got home I was in a hurry to unload them. The reason I was given these guineas is the guy had lost most of his guineas due to predators, so could be a predator wound.

OUCH!!! i've never doctored guineas, but with the tea tree oil, mix it with regular oil, so she doesn't eat strait tea tree oil, i have had wonderful results with it on birds and humans, i am wondering if a broad spectrum antibiotic orally, like in water might be a good idea too? since there was a predator attack
