***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Good morning All, Sure looks like it could rain outside but the radar looks like it could be a toss-up as to wether or not it hits here, That's how it's been every time it rains all summer it comes as close as raining like mad 50 feet away on my neighbors place and I get a couple drops or none at all LOL Everyones doing well in thier new temp homes I am sure liking the weather this morning 75 degrees and a nice breeze I might actually get some thing done outside without risking heatstroke, I hope everyone gets some rain and cooler temps and has a great rest of the weekend :)

The wind has picked up. I've put cinderblocks on the corners of my portable pens to keep them anchored. We haven't had any rain yet, but I can feel it in the air. We're in for a storm.

Michael - I looked again at the photo you posted of the BYC corner. You've inspired me to lose 50 lbs. I guess it's time for celery and carrots instead of meatball sandwiches.

Don - The trios are settled and exploring their new digs. The roo with the larger comb caught an enormous cricket and shared it with his girls. He's the loudest talker in the bunch. Everything about him is big. Maybe I'll call him Tex.

Sounds like we missed a great get-together. There were some great purchases too. Maybe I can convince Roger to go to one of the auctions if I promise not to buy anything

This lovely break in the weather has been great. After Carl and Stephanie saw how behind I was in my weed pulling, I spent an hour and a half just pulling grass and watering the beds in the garden. The cows weer loving the green stuff I was tossing over the fence to them...ate every last blade!
Moved Angel and Popeye (Carl, you'll understand the reference) the little black Cochin roo out to the teen pen. They will still be in their big cage set up on a rack, but will be enjoying this new temperature. The little Roo is not big enough yet to defend himself against the teens and Angel of course is blind and defenseless also. Gave the baby his Tylon 50 shot...much more confident after the lesson yesterday. The eye looks much less swollen today.

Now, it's off to clean the hot tub room and get is back in order so Roger can enjoy his hot tub again. It's amazing how messy that room becomes when it's being used to house chickens.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Glad to know you made it home safely. Right after we left and it started raining, it dawned on me that the lane markings on Eastbound I40, as you approach the Ft. Smith junction, are very poorly done. We had difficulty staying in the same lane when we went through there on Friday night and I was wishing that I had warned you and suggested that you go I240 to I35 to get to the Turner turnpike, if that was your route home. They have not done a good job of covering up the white lines on the former pattern of the road and with the twists and turns it makes you dizzy trying to figure out where the dotted lines go and where the solid white lines are going so you can stay in the same lane through that area.

He's still so used to driving in Afghanistan that he just ignored all the lane markings and drove down the middle of the road. We couldn't see the lane markings anyway.

sshavney thanks again for the rooster, after Okracefan and I left the auction I had to keep him in the pet carrier while we worked on installing my bro's water pump. after a while the horses that our friend owns came over and one started sniffing the carrier and we had to grab it before he had it tossed all over the place. guess he liked the way the bird smelled.

After all the lightning I saw to the west last night it looks like I recieved less than 1/4 inch of rain already have wind blowing dust off the road.
