***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I'm not feeling great and my new boss has RA, so I'm encouraged to call in if I feel bad (and he doesn't penalize me for it, which is cool). I feel yuck, hence the going back to bed. Which, I'm headed there now I think.

Mrs. Fluffy Puffy :

What kind of sounds do they make? Are they very friendly? Hard to take care of? What kind of set-up would I need to take care of them? Also, what kind of feed do they need?

haha! Pigeontalk.com is a great site to find tons of info. They're beautiful....but just like any species-if you want a pet-like critter you have to handraise it. They don't peck or anything like that. These 2 aren't 'cuddly' and don't want held, but then neither does any new animal uness it's a puppy. If I hadn't looked so long for this particular kind I'd have just gotten a Serama or Sebright chicken if I wanted a house pet

Prairiehen, I'm happy to read you also have silkies. Guineas were my first poultry, and I love them, but silkies have stolen my heart as well. I have quite a few in all different colors--mostly show quality. Have you gotten into showgirls (naked neck silkies)? They are really neat also. Have only a few adults, in several colors , but also have nearly a dozen youngsters and babes.

Thankyou.
Checked them this morning. Mom obviously was in the nest before I got there..she had pushed aside some of the long grass. Babies are warm and fat.

Freeezing this morning...where's the coffee?....lol

Not quite freezing but crisp 42 degrees, chores on done, caught up on posts, and now sipping some coffee...mmm

Hope everyone has a wonderful day, I've got errands to run this morning, and then I need to get busy building a chicken coop.

Catch ya peeps later!

Faeri I don't think I would fix a room inside for pigeons. They are cute and the varietys are endless,But they really are not house birds. An outside "loft/avairy" would be much better. Doesn't have to be elaborate, even a small rabbit size coop can house a pair. I'm all for makeing an inside avairy room, but you would be much better off to put cage birds in it. Not trying to discourage anyone from getting into pigeons,on the contrary they are great! I have had them for over thirty years. Just realize that they are good size and can be messy and really do love being outside.

Another rainy day here. And I want to be out with my critters so bad, guess I will put another quilt top together. I finished the quilt I was working on sta night. It is a pattern called Chisolm Trail.

Well better get off here and run to the feed bank! Used to be feed store but I put more money in it than the the bank!lol

I wish I would have gone to a sale this weekend, the evening ones are hard tho :-/ are there any sales that go on during the day around here. I like going to marys and the guy rose but the last few times I've been at the GR it has been empty. Enough buyers to jack the price up on the few birds that were there

I'm looking for some pretty EEs that are laying or super close to and it seems I've got the Cochin bug. It was an accident tho! I tried not to fall in love with them but couldn't help it. Also wyandottes in blr and columbian are being considered, again lol

James is getting kinda tired of the outdoor stuff though...

I think he wants me to stick to normal pets... what's the fun in that?

Going back to sleep failed, so I'm sitting here like a zombie in front of my computer. Looking at chickens, of course...

Jackie, did you see the picture of the 2 EE hens I got from Michael at Mary's Sunday? It's a few pages back (page 1110). I love em'! I love the muffs and beards. They're still real young, probably just about ready to start laying. There weren't many hens that day but I'm betting he can sure get you some.
You "accidently" got the Cochin bug? lol Does that excuse really work?
