***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Btw, I used p&b's 'bator, a Hova Bator 1588 with turners. Replaced the heating element before I used it at her suggestion, and she helped me calibrate it to the proper temp. With her help, I got 15 EEs to hatch (I only set 19, so that was great). It was *after* that when I had issues.

Kae, I've got sand in the run and as soon as I get my butt in gear and go get another load I'm going to have play sand in the coop. I love it and it's so much easier to clean. Just rake it around. I think sand would work fine for nesting boxes.
Yea, I'm back down to getting just 3 or 4 eggs a day now out of 12 supposed layers . Robin taught her Cochins to lay BIG eggs, too lol Robin, how'd you do that??

Thank you, I've heard of blister beetles but never saw one. I've heard how evil they are and if you squish them they give you a rash, I need to do something to control them quickly before they decide to live here!!!!!

Thank you, sorry about your foot, I know it's hard to stay off and keep it elevated, but if you don't let it heal it will take more time to heal, or even could make it worse.

I don't have an incubator for 2 reasons. 1 is that I had 15 hatch out of... 3 tries, over 90 eggs. Those 15 were from p&b's easter egger flock. One batch went the way of a curious cat (i.e. the entire incubator hit the floor). One batch, the entire incubator full failed. I know it wasn't the 'bator because p&b successfully hatched before and after me using the same 'bator.

Then I got hoodwinked in the course of "buying" a bigger 'bator by a con man (yes, I can say that, he's been convicted AND he cons people out of money for things he'll never provide AND I have a judgment against him), and completely lost the desire to hatch. Now I'm waffling about it, but I dunno if I want to set myself up for failure again.

If I would have just bought the birds that I wanted instead of trying to hatch them, I'd've saved myself a ton of money.

Or you could get a silkie, isn't that the same as an incubator?
