***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Yeah, I took a ccp refresher because I had taken the original course in 2009, my house was burglarized a month later and I lost both my handguns. Never pursued the license further because I figured what was the point with nothing to carry? Now with James possibly being deployed to Afghanistan (there's a 50/50 chance he'll be voluntold), it's simply smarter for me to get my own and he's going to purchase a handgun for me (we have his handguns, but they are too heavy and the grips are too big for me).

I really MUCH PREFER gun oil to chicken poop.

I completely understand the voluntold, just got back from the Stan about 45 days ago myself. You're doing the wise thing in my opinion...good job

Thanks Kass! I reloaded some and they showed back up. Anyway you can see there were a lot of pumpkins! I have never seen some varietys. Sure made you hungry for pumpkin pie tho!lol I doubt some would taste very good tho. But wouldn't it be fun if you had the room to plant a mix like that and just watch them grow. It would take several acres for sure!

Nana hope your feeling better.Any thing new on the cow front? Always interested in your farming stories so I can learn more.

Left the sale early didn't see anything I couldn't live without and I just felt the need to be home, when I turned off the highway the fire dept was blocking the road tried to tell me I couldn't pass but let me go after I told him I had to get to my house, for whatever reason one of the poles on the road caught fire and burned the wires through, most of the fire was out but the very top of that one pole was looking like a giant match stick and of course my place was on the wrong side of the burned wires so got to the house and checked on everyone by flashlight and by candle they got the power back on a while ago, I was sure glad it didn't take till tomorrow LOL I have too much to do that requires electricty sure glad I don't have to live without it.

OKie - do you make my day with thim auction pic's thank's so verry much for thim ...It's pooring down going to sleep ben a long day an night ..

Okie-doodle I love the auction pics, especially the pumpkins. Chickens will shank you for pumpkin, just so you know. I also love that you made a quilt out of the dishtowels. I have a set of dishtowels my mother embroidered but with cats on them. I have them put away with a warning of death to anyone who even thinks of using them. Now I know what I can do with them. Thanks for sharing the idea.

Well the auction was

tonight. Actually got out of there only spending $7 which included my auction nachos.

Still lightly raining here and is very late so I am going to go check for lumps in my pillows with my head. Night all!

Great pictures Okladoodle. The quilt is beautiful! Yes, much better. Thank you. We had a calf born this week...only two more to go for the year. We're are taking cattle to market each weekend for the past two weeks and unless the leases get rain, we will be taking calves and older cows the next several weekends.

So far we have only had a small shower. We are on the eastern edge of the rain. Our leases are even further east.
Here at home, one pond is totally dry, four ponds are 5 feet low and going dry, and the last two are 3 feet low and still holding some water. We have been running a float stock tank for about 6 weeks.

Couldn't sleep so did some geneology research. I'm getting drowsy so will go back to bed for a while.

faerielady - I had the same problem with the handguns DH likes: too large for my hands and too much kickback. I found the Lady Smith with a 2" barrel and concealed hammer to be perfect for me. For plinking, though, my favorite is a Walther P22. Whatever you choose, make sure it's comfortable to hold and fire. We used to shoot at the range in Tulsa, and the counsel I received before buying was good: The gun should fit, otherwise it won't be used with confidence.

Ellwood - I'm glad to hear you weren't without power for too long. I'm curious about the fire. How does a pole spontaneously combust?

Doodle - I love the way you used the dishtowels in your quilt. You should do an online quilting seminar for the Okies who can't get past the step of making all the squares.
