ArtsyRobin was able to treat with vitamins, I forget what she used now but you can do a serch on here that might give you more until someone comes along. Good luck
No personal experience and this is a shot in the dark guess, but I have read on a couple of threads a link between sudden neck problems and either a vitamin deficiancy or electrolyte (can't remember which it was)
Sorry I thought I quoted, that was in response to jcatblum
Just got in from picking the okra and oh my, I missed 2 days to harvest and had 2 walmart sacks FULL, wonder if my neighbors like okra?
If my chickens would cooperate I'd give it to them like I intended when I started growing it, but the only way they will eat it is if I split the pod and expose the seed and hand hold it for them!!!!! I may try splitting the pods anyway and just see if I leave it if they will eventually at least clean the pod out, it is so healthy for them. I have tried chopping it and pureeing it both were a no go.
Thanks sooner & kassandra. I am going to soak some bread in my liquid vitamins & feed it to her. This is why I prefer to raise my birds from chicks. She doesn't get mad when I handle her & she will eat from my hand makes it much easier! So odd that vitamins are the solution. Wonder if this bird doesn't absorb nutrition well?
How many plants do you have to pull off 2 walmart bags of okra?
We did dehydrated okra this weekend. Tossed in salt pepper & garlic powder. Was very yummy. Next time I will leave it a little longer. It was crunchy when I pulled it out but the next day it got softer. So must have had moisture still in it. My dehydrator has 9 trays. Think it will hold at least 5 lbs of okra. I know you have already dried some, maybe you need to find a few more dehydrators just keep them going non-stop! My sister tried the dehydrated okra & thought it taste just like fried okra. She is VERY picky so that is saying alot! How about pickled okra? We love pickled okra here!! Or do you have a local food bank?
My guineas do like the okra-- I give them the ends & tips. I don't think my guineas that free range would eat it, but the penned ones do.

I would dehydrate them, they are soooo good that way, but right now my dehydrator is going full time on cinnimon sugar squash, which is even yummmmmmier! And I'm soooo behind on that b/c it takes longer for the sugared squash to dehydrate.
I thought about dehydrating in the car, but Gary's truck is in the shop, so he has my car, so it would be Friday at the earliest I could do that, I would have to take a better look at my schedule and see if I am going to need to drive the car before making any hard plans to use it as a dehydrator.
Oh and as to how many plants I have, not sure but it is about 100 foot of plantings, the perimeter of two of the garden/runs.

haven't heard of it in RIR, but, its worth a try- suppliment her with a couple drops on her beak of baby vitamins, polyvisol without iron twice a day for 5 days, sometimes neurological looking issues can be vitamin deficiencies- i'll get on the other computer where i have the specific info...
Welp, I may have jinxed myself about my job. State of OK has decided to budget cut mental health, substance abuse, and HIV outreach programs. Guess what my agency does? We were notified today of a 38% loss of funding effective 1 November. I of course am underutilized therefore it is most likely going to be me losing my job, one of the agencies will close, and two other agencies will consolidate unless the legislature backs off on this (which is highly unlikely given the majority's feelings on addicts, alcoholics, and the HIV positive - even the ones that want/are seeking help in order to GET BETTER).
Except for the silkies that James is buying, bird acquisition has just come to a skidding halt. I can buy food for what I have while on unemployment if necessary... but I don't want to push it.

I worked for Tulsa Center for Behavioral Health part time security for almost 15 yrs and was sent a certified letter (that I never picked up) that said I was no longer employed. No love whatsoever!! Thank goodness I still have a regular job! I must say that I hope I never have to go to that facility on a personal level, ever!
Thanks Robin. I will try it. She is going down hill fast. Her neck is a complete 180 now. Head upside down. I can turn it right but isn't staying.
So sorry faerielady. I am sure you will find something fast. Hopefully something that isn't demanding. My sister worked @ lowes while she was taking a heavy course load. They were really good about working with he school. Now she has a manager position @ the px. Not sure how close you are to the AFB but she started as a college intern-- pd $13.45 an hour & then as soon as the 12 wk internship was up she was offered 2 different management jobs @ aafes. She took the one with less hours but a set schedule!
Think it took awhile for her to get the internship. She applied on aafes website I believe. Military preferences isn't stated but when she interviewed made a big difference that she was an Army wife for 10 yrs prior to her divorce. Not sure what you are going to school for but they seem to take interns from all areas.

The division director told me even though he probably shouldn't have... the letter went to the executive agency director (I work for a county non-profit, we're not county employees, we're non-profit employees). The ExecDirector usually does NOT tell anyone that they are getting axed in advance, he likes to sneak up on them like the evil little toad he is. The division director has been working at this agency for 28 years, 20 of them as the division director. He refuses to allow us to be left out in the cold, so he tells us when there is a potential issue coming down the pike.
I'll be putting in my applications at a lot of places, including looking up what jcatblum said about possible internships. I was a military dependent my entire childhood (two prior service parents, one medical out, one retired). I was also married to a TSgt for a few years, and divorced him. James of course is a member of the USMC(R). Maybe some of that will help.
Anyway. I'm not "worried" about it, I just want to be prepared.
