***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I read where 1 lady will feed chicken to hers but she always tells them, "Don't worry, it's no one you know." lol

I asked my niece to take the chicken their treats. She looked in the scrap bucket & said you mean the dogs. I said no the chickens. She says but there is chicken in here! That is just wrong! Chickens shouldnt eat chicken!

Almost all of our table scraps go to the birds, that includes chicken. No birds ever complain.

I already admitted that the failing was mine. However, my dogs get the leftover chicken, the chickens get all the other kinds of leftover meat. Works out well for me and doesn't turn my stomach. I know chickens are scavengers and I know that they'll even cannibalize their dead. Doesn't mean I have to participate in it.

Found the perfect nest eggs at hobby lobby. They have brown ones and white ones. They feel and way almost the same as the real ones and if your just looking you can't really tell the diff plus there only a 1.50 each. Bought all they had

That's so sad. In cases like that I would think they NEED meat protein. I used to think people took crappy care of their dogs, then their fish-and way too many do. But the way chickens are treated takes the whole cake. I've never seen such mistreated animals as chickens. I'm past the stage in my life when I want to "save them all". But I'd sure like to put an awful lot of them out of their misery if only to end their suffering.
I saw a dozen medium eggs at WalMart are $1.28, and that's after a huge mark-up. Some poor hen is living in bad conditions (you can bet) and laying an egg every day for 12 days. All so somebody can get $1.28 after mark-up from her eggs. It doesn't make you quit eating eggs but it sure makes you quit buying them.

sure does! and i can't eat store chicken anymore either- i look at them and think of my girls.... no we can't save the world, but we can make a difference in our corner

we'll this little guy apparently is a grebe, waiting on a rehabber, but it was suggested to take him to the river and let him go- he's getting his energy back, wonder if he could survive?
