***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Here the grasshoppers have been replaced with flies. Got spoiled this summer it was so dry I never saw a fly. Opened the windows the other day & they found there way through any hole that was in the screen!!

Michael will be more than happy to get some apple butter to you-- don't think we need any birds in exchange-- just don't let my little one know I said that. She thinks we can always use more birds!! The sea brights she bought last month @ Blanchard still haven't laid an egg that I have seen, but she loves them anyways!

She didn't even ask-- she saw we had 20 acres & changed our address to a e-911 address in the system that was it. I would call your county, but I didn't have any issues.

If you need to borrow some extra chickens I am sure we could help you out!

When you count your chickens...don't use chicken math...actual bodies for poultry is more impressive

We have a farm tax id for the cattle and it covers anything purchased for the farm...ie fencing, feed, meds building materials. The tax id card is good for several years when approved. We automatically get the new card in the mail. You do get a form to complete upon renewal.

For taxes, I keep a separate ledger for the cattle account (because Roger and his brother are in the cattle together) and one for the farm which includes the chickens and the tractors payments and the expenses for the fleet of farm vehicles including fuel.

Same here. Flies are everywhere, it seems, and I've been seeing a lot of small crickets, too. The chickens have been enjoying catching those.

OK, never mind... it stopped already.

Just wanted to let you all know you've been a bad influence on me. Stopped at Atwoods tonight, dh suggested I buy a "friend" for a single chick we have that's 3 wks old. When I told the clerk I wanted a couple of chicks, they said they'd sell them for $1.... I took all 9.

No I don't. One tank had an article about some "extremely rare" breed of chicken. If they're "extremely" rare, I doubt Atwoods is selling them. It was a breed I've never heard of, and I suppose I'll have to let them feather out before some of you experts can tell me what breed they are. The others came from a tank that said assorted bantams and pullets. They are all the same breed, and I will post pics of them soon, because they're getting enough feathers that someone might know what they are. I specifically asked if they were indeed pullets, and they assured me they were. We'll have to wait and see about that too.

Just another fyi if anyone is interested. They tried to put the guineas in the box too. We couldn't take those though, we'd really get kicked outta the 'hood! I guess they were going to sell them for $1 too.
