***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Wished all our old friends would check in and say hello again and let us know they are still alive and well or not! Haven't heard from the Henry boys in forever,especially that one out there in no mans land! Haven't seen City Clucks on here lately either.Would love to here from Doc and Rena and I know everyone missess Al. Wondering how Okarla and Gerald are doing.And of course the one and only Mr. Stimp!And there are so many more that my old memory can't bring to mind. Its been a long hard year on everyone. Be nice to have us all back together again before the holidays. With all the new folks we have ,if all the old folks would come back we could put this byc site to spinning with all of us posting!And we never seem to run out of much to talk about! I have laughed,cryed,cussed, stomped,ranted,pleaded,agitated,sulked,begged forgiveness and just about every other emotion on this forumn. I guess thats what makes it so great. Only family allows you to do all those things!Thanksgiving and Christmas are comming up. Lets show this site how great we Okies really are! Post! Post! Post!

Just got back from OKC, been down there all weekend for the military...we have "re-integration briefings" at our 30, 60 and 90 day-back events...death by power point and monotone speakers

Glad to be home! Only have one more event to go through...yea! Then biz as normal.

I was behind 10 pages and finally caught up...seems like this has been an exciting weekend for a few...Getting kids home, other family members on the mend, and tons of additions of our feathered friends! Welcome to all the new BYCers...even those without birds currently...there's an enabler or two that help fix that problem, and with the chicken math teachers...you might get more than traditional math would allow

All the birds and animals are doing well here...can't wait for the baby quail to be out of the brooder....and chicken chicks too.

as far as turkeys go(no not referring to folks here), maybe in the spring- i have read where folks raise them with the chickens with no problem- other than the first month or so to get them established.... but for now...i'll stick to what i have and my fascination with banties and seramas- those cochins still melt my heart, and are a riot when they get there little free range time before lock up- they can attain flight pretty good too.... is there such a thing as banty favorolle's?

if its a real breed and someone shows it you will see them in Shawnee.. Its a good show and should not miss for any poultry fancier.. What everyone may not be aware of it's also a major pigeon show as well. It's held in a third building but it's there..

A question about the turkey / chicken not getting along thing. Would they get along better if raised together and if the turkeys were female?

Raised four bronze turkeys we incubated in a pen with chickens when the turkeys were two months old. Every one was fine until we released a tom and two hens back into the wild at the one year age. We had one jake left. Tom was blind in one eye from wood shavings when real little.
Tom began to display dominance about the age of 3. He would try to spar with our rooster and separate the hens from the roo. He would boom and rush at our little nephew. He made a nice deep fried Thanksgiving dinner.

I purchased some ornimental kale (chindori and dynasty) how long can I expect them to live into the winter here?
