someone asked me why seramas, does this math sound right?

2 seramas = 1 banty
2 banties = 1 large fowl
so does that mean 4 seramas = 1 large fowl....

Well I have apologies to make ............................. I have read on several threads how it is possible for female chickens to crow, while I never challenged those statements in typing, I thought in my own mind .......................... they are crazy or mistaken or misinformed.

Well aparently we are the proud owners of a crowing female!!!!

We have two coops one has Oreo (our only boy) the other is a bacholorette pen and the alpha female of that pen has started crowing, not as lound as Oreo, but a definate crow, would have never believed it if I hadn't heard it.

I had a hen that not only crowed but tried to mate with one hen who she was raised with. She even laid eggs but they were weird, kind of leathery never got a hard shell from her.
Found out later that this is not uncommon. Tres bizarre!

Was just reading some info about how copper is a vital micro mineral and helpful in many ways healthwise and nutritionally ................................... sooooo guess what is high in copper ................................ cocoa as in hot cocoa. So I'm going to make the sacrifice and have another cup w/ whipped cream .................... for my health you understand. ; )

I'm so glad you'll have her home to fuss over. It feels so unnatural to have one of your kids sick and NOT under your wing.
Rebecca, I know you knew how bad I wanted these guys. Honey, you can have ALL the free fertile eggs you want from these 2! I'd be honored. I'm going to start collecting as soon as she lays any and if you'd like you'll be 1st on the list to get some. Just tell me how many and I'll hand deliver them to you.

No fair! Robin's cheating on the chicken math again!
Did you get the Seramas yet??

That does my heart good to hear of her getting up to such a ripe old age. I hope she has many more happy days.

Hey! Maybe my Blue Silkie is a hen after all, huh?? Maybe she's just faking me out with all that crowing

The vet is open for an hour on Sunday mornings in case anyone needs anything. One of the Silkies who'd been in with the Cochin babies has been lethargic the past few days. I was hoping he'd snap out of it and fight it off but no go. So I ran up and got the Dexamethasone, Vit B and antibiotic injections for a week for him plus an extra round for the next potential bird who gets sick. Makes me feel better to have extra. This was the older vet who opened the place years ago, super nice guy named Dr Sewel. Said just to stop by some time next week and I could pay for it then since he didn't know how much the other vet was charging and he didn't want to overcharge. So I'm hoping my little white Silkie, Webbie, will make it through. It won't be for lack of trying.
Have I mentioned I love this vet clinic???
Edit: Oh yea! And my daughter's 7 mo old cockeral who was literally on death's door, laid out on his side gasping for air a week ago is up and prancing around and crowing! I don't know what kind of magic he puts in these injections but I'd have sworn that chicken was a goner.
