Good Way Too Early Everyone!
Can't sleep, mouth hurts like someone punched me on each side of my face, at the same time!!!
Just have to tell you about the little rooster I got from June. So after picking him up, I went to the laundry mat to dry some clothes, since my dryer is still DOA. Since no one was in there I brought him in with me to hang out. While I was folding clothes, I put him on one of the tables right next to me. My non-chicken friend called so I stopped folding clothes and was just standing next to the table the rooster was on with one hand on the sided of the table. After a few minutes he scooted over so he could lean up against my hand. It was so sweet, especially since I had had him less then an hour and he already wanted to stay close to me. How dang cute is that???
After I finished my laundry and before the dentist appointment we went to
Petsmart to get a couple of feed and water bowls for the carrier (since I grab the one with out a feeder or waterer
). Took him in there with me and everyone was excited to see him. Several people asked where I got him, so I told them and let them know June had a bunch. My thinking on this is, if we can get more city people to have mini chickens in town then they may decide they want bigger chickens and push for change in the ordinances and laws. Honestly, taking care of a mini chicken in the house is no worse then having parrot, cockatail or a budgie and is probably cheaper in the long run for food.
I already told my students about our little school chicken. Everyone is really EGG-CITED (hehehe) about him. The plan is to have a naming contest. The winner will have his/her picture taken with the rooster and I will have the picture matted and framed with a little card stating the rooster's name and the date, etc. Might have to do a little "mini" lesson over chickens, to connect this to academics. Have to give props to the principle and vice-principles. They are totally okay with this and thinks it is really funny. Although, I think my principle sometimes wonders at hiring such a crazy person, he is cool and very supportive. I am blessed!
All this comes down to this,
everyone needs a house chicken.
