For all of those BYCers that will be having Black Friday blues or just bored. We will be having an auction Saturday night in Blanchard. We have always had a sale on Thanksgiving weekend. Do not know what to expect but should be alot of fun. Great way to get away from everything else. Bring the whole family and freinds to get away.

Hope to see you all Saturday.

Well it looks like I spoke too soon yesterday when talking about the little Serama chick. All was well with it as far as I could tell, up until this morning. I heard the mama making a lot of unusual chattering noises and noticed that the little chick was having trouble staying upright. The mama was pacing around and seemed to know that something was wrong. I gave the chick some molasses water because that's all I could think of at the time to do. Within an hour the little baby had died and I don't know why. The poor mama has been making lots of distressing sounds ever since. She's so sad, poor thing. She was such a good mama to her baby.

I JUST told my husband that not an hour ago-that this littler Serama is the best ZERO dollars I've ever spent. It was so nice today, I spent the day cleaning the RV and and organizing my computer stuff, etc. I laid some newspaper down on the couch and Channing has been there all day watching and helping and crowing me along. My daughter has been in to visit him twice, my husband got home early and the 1st thing he did was come in and visit with him for an hour. I swear-I can't get any work done AT ALL with this bird's visitors in and out-haha!

And to add insult to injury you've got to watch the mama hen suffer not understanding where her baby is. I've seen references all over the place as to baby Seramas being delicate, but I feel awful for you all the same. When I lost my Faverolles male a few wks ago the hen was distraught, making noise all day long and looking back and forth for him. I ended up putting her with Chicken Larry the Blue Silkie cockerel and 3 Silkie pullets. She feeds and watches over them and finally acts content (even though they're not babies). Maybe your mama hen just needs something in there to take care of. Do you suppose a stuffed animal might get her through for a few days?

Okay excuse my soapbox please, but here goes.

It is about Dr.'s. How do people w/ normal jobs go to the Dr. w/o being fired? Dr. A wants Gary to have a test but he can't order it or the insurance won't pay for it, so he wants Dr. B (Gary's primary) to order the test from Dr. C, then share the info from the test w/ him (Dr. A). Only Gary hasn't gone to the primary Dr. B in like 3 years b/c we operate under the appeant out of this world notion that you only go to the Dr when you are sick or hurt w/ something you can't fix yourself,
barnie.gif
so Dr. B has no intention of ordering said test from Dr. C until he has seen Gary, who only needs a darn test that Dr. B can't do.

So this means if Gary wants this test he has to take a day off work to go see Dr. B, give him the $20 and say please call Dr. C for a test (I offered the $20 if they would just call Dr. C ...........they were offended)
smack.gif
then take another day off work to go have the test at Dr. C, and hope he's not fired
fl.gif
so he can pay his Dr. bills. I even tried making the appt for the test directly w/ Dr. C that was a no go, the request had to be from a Dr.

Beans are done and so is cornbread, waiting on the wife.
Worked outside most of the day. It was finally not raining. Put "windows" in the doors of the Afgrames so the shelters would be a little lighter. Fixed up another pen for the doe rabbit and her litter. Of course one had to loose! Hope I catch it before a hawk does!
Let the icelands out to range while I was working. They were pleased ,I got two eggs from them today!
Also put up a few more pigeon nest as I had taken them all down. Looks like they are starting to pair up.
Hope all who are traveling tonight are safe and get where they are going okay. We are just going across town to the DDs. Then after we eat we are all going to take a plate up to the MIL.I'm not cooking the bird this year just making sweet potaoes, green bean casserol, and pies.DD and her hub are doing the rest.

Thank you for all the condolences for the Serama chick. I put the mama back with her boyfriend. Naturally, he wanted to get frisky with her right off the bat, but she wanted no part of it. She hears the other chicks that are nearby and perks up when she hears them chirping. I would let them be with her but they're still in quarantine. They are large fowl, anyway, and are half her size already at two weeks old.

It's such a pretty day out today. Spent some quality time with the rest of the flock. They sure enjoyed their treats.
