Is it pretty much the same feed? A mixture of grains and pellets at a higher protein %?

I haven't fed it, don't know if it has pellets, but I am sure its pretty similar.

Thanks. And definitely appreciate you telling about Harrah's mill being down...that would have been a long drive for nothing.

I just talked to Kassaundra on the phone, she told me of a feed place in Okmulgee..I'm going to try that for now, out of feed after this mornings rounds, but will still go to Harrah to try their GCR after I run out again.

I try to not take anything to help with sleep because I am alone with the kids and I am afraid I won't hear them if they need me or if something happens in the house. I am lucky that I don't work out of the house, so during the day when I have to I can nap.

Upcdayz.......I will send warm, calming thoughts out for you and the sales people today.........good luck!

I understand not taking anything but you can buy natural stuff that doesn't actually drug you. I found it in the vitamin section & it seems to help me rest alittle better, if you are interested let me know & I will get the name off the bottle.

Yes, the longer they are on the vine the better. And when you do cut them, leave about 3 inches of the vine on the gourd. They need to dry with lots of air flow. I set mine on top of the dog pen, a big pen made from 2x4 welded wire. It's in the car port so there is air flow and protection from rain and snow.

You 'gourdheads' talking about gourds bring back old memories....in another lifetime I was a 'gourd artist'....haven't done any for years....but I painted houses 'in the round' on gourds...did collections of streets (like a village) with each house numbered. I think 2005 was my last year to do it. Here is an old picture of some of my larger gourds...these pictures are all I have on this computer, but I will get some finished painted ones off my old computer at home when I get some time.
I liked painting the 'apple' gours and the 'tear-drop' shaped ones...they made the best houses.

Bet your chickens enjoyed the shade under the gourd canopy.

I will be showing silkied serama at Shawnee. Also taking several sale birds. I assume my entries made it in before the spaces all filled. I've not received any emails saying I did or did not make it. I sent mine in on Saturday the week before the scheduled closing. Carl, sorry you didn't make it in. I had hoped you would have some serama entered. I heard that you had some at Newcastle, but I work Saturdays and didn't want to take off to go.

Yeah, one of the boy's we work with has quite a selection of serama, and silkied serama most are from your birds. I guess next time we need to mail in earlier or take them to the post office directly, I doubt the local pick-up here got postmarked before teh cut off. We waited so long because everything was going into molts and did not want to enter stuff and not be able to take it. Oh well worse things have happened there will always be another show to hit.
It doesn't look like it will be a good show season for us anyway I appear to be scheduled to work every weekend or at least saturday in Jan. and feb. might have one weekend in March.

It is melatonin, it is a natural substance the body makes to both sleep and stay asleep. It works very well for me and Gary, and you aren't groggy or drugged feeling in the morning at all.

I was just rescued by the Henryetta Police, literally. I was doing a house inspection for Gary and there was a police car that I saw pull up in the alley, I just assumed he was checking me out to make sure what I was doing (wasn't up to mischief) but what I didn't know until later was he was tracking an at large VERY aggressive dog that they had recieved several calls about. He saw the dog coming my way (from my vantage point I didn't see it coming), he tried to herd it away from me, but it didn't work by the time I saw the dog it was to late, (one of those that sneak up and get you) He finally was able to draw it's attention long enough for me to get to my car. He couldn't shoot b/c I was backed up to the outside wall of a home and was directly behind the dog (from his perspective) so if he missed the dog there was a good chance it would have hit me or the occupied home behind me. I am soooooooo getting a can of pepper spray that has a steam nozzle.
