One of the most difficult things I ever did was the very 1st time I drove right on by a stray mangy skinny dog. But after picking up hundreds in all those years I just couldn't do it anymore. To this day I slam on the brakes when I see one, say him a little prayer & keep going.

Enjoying a few minutes to catch up. I too have a heated waterer. I usually put a timed light in the coop to boost egg laying - the light comes on early (haven't done that yet this year). I don't really worry much anymore about the chickens getting cold - they always seem to feel fine. I do close the windows on their hen house, but they still have the pop door at the bottom that's always open and there is ventilation at the top under the eaves, so they are fine. I think it was nnbreeder who mentioned one time (a long time ago) that condensation and stuffiness in the coop is more danger in cold weather than the freezing temps.

-Poco Pollo, Congratulations on the anniversary and the gift! You can take the art teacher out of the school, but you can't take the art out of the farmer/rancher....okay...that doesn't really work...
