***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Good morning all!
Sun is shinning today! Last night was our coldest yet, down in the teens. Had a light burn out in the brooder/serama cage. Luckyly there was a back up.

Sad day for familys in wreck last night. A 33 year old father of three and his 61 year old mother both died. Speed was a major factor they said.

Been out and gave everyone a fresh drink this morning and a scratch grain treat. They were all happy for that. Got 7 eggs yesterday. The EE bnantams are picking up. They always lay good in the winter. The Icelands are very hit and miss, totally affected by the weather changes it seems. I have one trio of hard feathered seramas that I am keeping outside and they are doing quite well. Both little hens are laying. Talk about some tiny eggs!

Well got to get around get cleaned up. Family is taking me out to dinner today for my birthday. The big 60 ! I thought they didn't hurt after the horrible 45th,but this one really hurts,I am officially old! My body agrees but mind refuses to accept it!lol

I was looking at some of the photos I took yesterday at the Shawnee show. These are now stuck in my head with the title Modern Dance. Perhaps the King of Pop was a fan of moderns.

Had a blast yesterday! Met a ton of folks, talked to a ton already knew...after yesterday, I know there are too many enablers in this crowd, think next year we're going to try to show. Get ready for the questions...we've never shown before. Congrats to all the BYCers and their families that did well yesterday. We traded some chickens, took 10 down...trying to down size... and brought 5 Americuanas home! They will be great additions to the flock.

Had a great time at lunch! So many BYCers there, didn't get a chance to say,"Hi" to all of 'em...even the ones I did know! Can we all a have another get together sometime?

Went down to Blanchard last night, Sixshooter and his DW came down and we got to chat it up with MichaelD. We took some Coturnix Quail down, they did really good at the sale, even though the crowds weren't there...still had several birds there, Games were going pretty high...we didn't stay, our DS was worn out by the end of the day, well maybe mom and dad too!

Big lesson of the day...don't use DW's SUV to haul birds all over the state! Regardless of temps...thats what my truck is for!

Got home awhile ago--stupid tired! Had a good time seeing everyone again and meeting new ones. There were quite a few BYCers there, and the biggest group for lunch ever! I was so busy, I didn't have much time to talk with people, but did get to spend some time with several. I totally appreciate how helpful everyone is, but especially Rebecca and Tara! I split my time between BYCrs and Silkie people, so got to visit with a lot of fine folks!
