***OKIES in the BYC III ***

We moved a 40' mobile feed room into position. It's an old 65 passenger school bus that I traded out some labor for. Now if the weather gets really nasty all of the birds can go inside as it's close enough to the house to run a cord out there and use a heater or two.

The back door matches the flatbed perfectly for unloading feed and hay into and the last owner pulled the seats and mouse proofed it.

WHOO HOO! A Chicken Bus!

Excellent recipe, I'm going to use it. I've already wormed them all with Fenbendazole/Safeguard. I've got the Poultry Drench, should I dose her with that? I can pretty much guarantee a bird won't drink water with that stuff in it, it smells awful. I got about 1 1/2 cc water in her drop by drop by putting it on her beak and she'd swallow it. Michael D said they ate and ate and ate once he got them, he's only had them a few days. All of their crops are stuffed full like golf balls. So at least lack of appetite doesn't seem to be one of her problems at this point. I can grind some oyster shell in the coffee bean grinder for her, would that work for calcium powder? Or I could use Tums. I've got All-Stock pellets, Chick Starter and the game cock feed. I could grind any or all of that in the coffee bean grinder for her, which would be better?
And the rolled oats-I'd have to buy a 50 lb bag, could I use Oatmeal instead?
Also, 1 of them had blood in their stool so to be on the safe side I did put Sulmet in their water, which also helps with some respiratory problems and 1 of the others has raspy breathing. I debated giving her Tylan 50 injections but should wait til tomorrow, they've had a big day. The sick one is by herself under a heat lamp and she seems to love the heat. I can make most the recipe tonight. The apple's the one thing I don't have assuming I can use oatmeal in place of oats.

Oatmeal is fine and Tums are an excellent source of Calcium.

Monty that is the plan with the bus. I have a couple of motorhomes to scrap out so I will be adding a couple of roof-rider A/C units and a generator or two. Going to try to give it RV status so it can be insured and driven.

it's been a while since i've posted and this one brings bad news. My brother and i built him a pen last week and moved the few chickens he had aquired since the tornado were killed by his neighbors dog today. the dog dug under the sheet metal we put around the pen. 2 of the chickens were splash LF Cochins i bought at POOPS. If anyone knows who put Cochins in the auction at POOPS please let me know as i want to replace them for him.
