okracefan - so sorry about your birds. It sounds like the electric fence idea may be a solution to keeping any surviving or future birds safe. I hope that works for you.
nnbreeder - LOVE the chicken bus idea!
I'm picturing in my mind all sorts of ways you could fix that up, inside and out. When you get it completed, be sure to post pics. That is too cool!
Late dinner tonight. Have been busy all day today and just now got a chicken noodle casserole in the oven.
I bought two battery powered fluorescent under-cabinet type light fixtures and mounted them in the coops. They're only about 10 inches long but put out quite a bit of light - more than is really needed, but what the hey... then put the birds in their coops just after dark. The fixtures have on/off switches, so I'll have to remember to go out in the morning and turn them off. Hopefully this, along with the treats, will entice the birds to go their coops on their own shortly.
Sounds more like they have ME trained pretty good.
And that is what I feed my animals...I usually put out either egg layer or flock raiser also in a couple places for the run around birds but my breeding pens only get that mixture
I have had better falls to be perfectly honest. I have adopted different outlooks and will take control (with the understanding with the big man upstairs that he still gets final call). Just not letting folks around me controlling my moods.
Nocityboy, I'm so sorry about your brother's birds. They were just beautiful. I'm attached beyond what I'd have ever believed to my 7 LF Cochins that I hatched. I know your brother is devastated. This breed is a special kind that will alwas be #1 with me.

I've only seen a mule deer once, and that was at the Grand Canyon. I've read that we have them here in Oklahoma, but am thinking they must not be here in large numbers. Where did you find it? Do they taste like white tail deer?
We have them out here in the pan handle...about the only part of the state that does. We have good numbers just hard getting to them at times...the day I killed mine we saw about 5 does and 2 bucks in the herd...I shot the larger one a 3x3. Our genetics aren't great in comparison with other parts but I was happy! The meat is darker than a whitetail but basically the same flavor. My buddy killed one also at the beginning of rifle...
