Do you suppose it's safe to run off to bed and leave Teach and Cowboy alone....? I just don't feel right leaving them unchaperoned.....

Morning It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas! Mom is driving to Oklahoma from Florida today. She's been visiting my little sister and her family. Mom will probably stay with us through Christmas and then spend a few days with our daughter in Bartlesville. She does not drive at night any more. Cataract surgery a few years ago removed the cataracts but left her with night blindness issues.

Robin - I'm going to take my camera out to the barn when it's light and get some face shots of my silkies. Maybe you and Betsy can tell the genders of my birds from the photos. I have one that has a bumpy comb, so I'm thinking that's a male for sure. The rest...

well, maybe you and Betsy can help.

DGD is going to stay with us after Christmas. She is designing her science fair experiment for school, and my chickens will be part of the experiment. She talked to me briefly about supplements, like conditioning feeds, and asked if we could use a small group of birds as a test group. Similar birds in a neighboring pen will be the control, since they will get their regular feed without supplements. We think the results will be accurate if we have the same breeds and genders in both pens. I need to band the birds in these two groups to make documenting easier. For the science fair, DGD wants to have two examples on display, so maybe she'll get to keep a couple chickens at her house for a few days, in the interest of science, of course.

Hey everybody! So much has happened since I've seen/talked to you all! I started a full-time job in Duncan at the office where my dad was a remote-employee. And official as of yesterday --- we've moved to Duncan! Which means I'm closer to some of y'all....but of course further from some. I don't have a single chicken at the moment

But my remaining flock is settling into their new home with my aunt and uncle (who grew up showing bantams)
