***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Surely there is a warranty on the tire.
We have had that happen with new tires also. Seems they aren't made like they once were.

I was told that no tires that are "made in America" anymore. All come from overseas now.

Well that can't be true. I live a few miles from the Goodyear plant here in Lawton. I have met several people that work there. They definitely make tires. I don't know where the rubber and other components come from though.

Good that they have nice yellow legs. Some hatchery Orloffs show up with white legs, which I suspect came from outcrosses to spangled sussex.
I have noticed the breed acquires respiratory issues pretty easily. We have such a limited genetic pool here in the US. It is something I will be working on over the next few years. I have some broodstock to work with, if they survive the winter.
Orloff are winter layers, which is why I said they should be laying soon.

She said she got them from a friend when they were babies but that's all I know about their history. Luckily hatchery birds are more than welcome here

Everyone here is still laying, I've got eggs coming out my ears. I kept expecting them to quit laying when it got darker earlier but instead 4 of the pullets *started laying.

Pullets hatched in spring will usually start laying in fall or winter, depending on the breed.

A few of my orloff are hatchery. Finding stock that didn't start out that way is difficult. To set my own strain, I'll be outcrossing to malay (an orloff foundation breed). I'm hopeful this will help make them stronger by bringing in some new genetics.

If for any reason you find yourself needing to rehome them, let me know.

Cuban - Is this common practice? I'm boggled by genetics. There's so much to learn. I have white Chantecler, which were developed through a series of crosses of the following breeds: Cornish, Leghorn, Rhode Island, Wyandotte, and Plymouth Rock. If I breed a Cornish rooster to some of my Chantecler hens, do you think the result would be a squatty, meatier Chantecler-looking bird, or do you think it would still look like a true Chantecler?

There's one in Ardmore too. And the largest manufacturer of tires is still cooking rubber right in happy ol Detroit.

That's going to be one good looking cross. I knew Orloffs were games but I didn't know Malay went into them. I didn't ask why the previous owners were keeping all the fluffy orange chickens and getting rid of these 2, I wondered if these 2 were picking on the others. I know they're not aggressive like other games but compared to those puffy orange ones I bet they were.
Poco, I had no earthly idea so much went into art. That really says a lot about your grand-daughter and you also. For her to put that sort of time and thought into a present is pretty impressive. And it's pretty obvious where she got the talent from

I've seen simple kits like that at Hobby Lobby or somewhere. I'd love to be able to do something like that and make it come out like she did. What's really cool is the whole time she was making it she was thinking of you. That's got to feel good.
