Put a nest box in the OEGB cage yesterday. The cage door is an odd size...only have me to blame for that construction. So had to make a special box that would fit thru that cage door. Anyway, the little Mottled hen was checking it out this morning and was walking around her cage making egg noises. AND the little rooster finally started crowing this morning and kept crowing and crowing and crowing...surprised he didn't get laryngitis.
I have been saving eggs for the past few days...some AI Silver-Laced Wyandottes, the Blue Wyandotte, The Blue Cochin, and the Columbian Wyandottes. I'm hoping another girl will decide to go broodie.
We should have Lucie's hatch this week...by the 4th, and the Rhode Island has been sitting on eggs also. She has some of the same eggs and has been leaving the nest for about an hour each day...it is inside where the room is heated. I'll need to candle those...hopefully they haven't been affected.
Gorgeous day outside if you cn get out of the wind. Pulled some fluffy butt feathers on the Cochin and Wyandottes to improve fertility. Feathers went flying across the road.
Hope everyone has a great New Year's Eve and that tomorrow begins a year of happiness for all.
