Don't know what color it is, but I sure do like it!

I know, it's so pretty!
Hey, I got an 18" x 30" bird cage there for Channing for only $3.50! It's black epoxy coated & has the raised tray with bars close together. I got another cage for the same price just as a transport cage for the way home but it wasn't nice like this one.

Good Morning fellow Okies! I am new to the board, and my DH is building a coop for me (I'm just at the apprentice tool-getter level!) and I am now searching for where to find some wonderful girls to move into it!! I really, really, really want Americauna/Aracuanas and a Polish hen. (I'm 1/2 Polish and feel the need to represent!! heehee) I am overwhelmed already!!

Can you please provided a little advice? Are they any breeds better suited to our miserable summers and strange winters? Where are the chicken auctions??? Does anyone else on here sell their eggs at the Farmer's Market? (Any advice on permits for that in Comanche County?)

Most of all, I am super excited over getting chickens, and I don't know where to start!! (Hubbie has the coop/feed needs down. He's a pro at it--like everthing!!) I would like to know when/where are the next poulty auctions to start attending. (How much can I expect to spend on these prized possessions, and are they all breeds or just a few main??)

TIA for helping wade through this board!

I don't know much about the auctions, still have never been to one, I work on Saturdays when most of them are held. But lot's of Okies know lots about the auctions. Are you wanting to buy hatching eggs, chicks, pullets or hens? I only have one breed of chicken (well not actually a breed, more a type) EE, but several have the breeds you mentioned.

AllBreeds, there was a pair of Barred Cochins last night that were gorgeous. And that Lemon Blue boy that Rebecca was talking about was stunning-and the size of a Border Collie lol (Well, ok-maybe not quite that big but he was huge).

Haha! June, I don't know how one goes about getting that award but my guess is you got it because of your (extreme) generosity in giving away Serama boys and encouraging their use for pets. Channing wants you to know that if he knew how he'd have elected you

And does anyone know what color this is called? Or if it's even a color? He's the Modern Bantam boy I got last night, he came with a Black Birchen girl. Yet one more breed that I'm just fascinated with. I'm assuming this color doesn't come in females?

If he's more brown based, I'd say silver fawn. If blue based, silver blue.

Muesky ...so glad to hear you are getting some much needed sleep...not getting it is so hard on the body!

NoCityBoy and Okracefan...congrats on the pair of Lemon Blue Cochins! You will have to post pictures. Did you get any of the adolescents?

Ksane...nice looking color on the roo.

Who else attended the auction?

Hubby's birthday is today. His brother's was yesterday. All he wanted for his birthday breakfast was a slab of ham and oatmeal with raisins. I was prepared for any request.

We are both going to be outside for a while playing in the barn. He is spending his birthday helping me....isn't he sweet!

Hey Carl, I will be interested in the fertility report on the eggs next week...especially Delilah's (Blue Cochin) eggs. I'm sure at least four of them are from the Cochin Roo. I'm thinking each breeding should last at least three days. The last two or three eggs were after the CW roo covered her so those could be a blue CW feather foot. Since these are the first eggs from some of these girls, it's a test hatch on them. Hoping fertility is good. Hubby is hoping only half hatch....
