Wow, the girls look like that, too? What a pretty color. I do like them very much, almost as much as the OE's I've got. One thing that concerns me is how well they do in the cold, some people say they need heat. I'm pretty sold on these OE's and i'd be very interested in some Silver Blue girls. A year is a long time but I'll remind ya

The little 3 mo old I got from you gets picked on, they don't attack-but they all peck her away from them every time she gets close to them. I feel so sorry for her and she's so tiny. Would it be a bad idea to bring her inside until spring? And integrate her back in then? She eats and drinks plenty, she's just getting shunned and she's such a baby :-( What do you think?

You can do that or after about a week they will be fine with her, the birds you got come from a few different pens and were not used to each other anyway. The pullet will do well with what ever circumstances she is given and once mature may take over the pen. My whites were very nice but had a "little person" attitude and really ruled the roost, just too them some time.
Once I get some Silver Blue OE going strong you will need to come down and take a look, I am early into that development but well on the way.
the Modern do well, but the long legs can get frost bite, just kepp them above freezing or at least out of th ewind and they should be fine.

Things are going good, started re-organizing today got the cochin crew in the new pen & they seem to like the larger space. I will start working on my new pens the next time I get nice weather & alittle time. Hopefully the building will be done soon & it will be alittle easier on the show birds.

They will be shown! She is getting discouraged with some of what she has now, not sure what I will do about it but hae to come up with an all around better program for the next season. It will include alot of hatching & conditioning. The building will help that alot. Just getting rid of the birds the other day made a big difference.

Yea, I know they're spunky little things-tiny little Napoleons. The cockerel & the 3 girls I got from Mike last month were out of quarantine and fixed up so I put the 3 from you and those 4 in an 8x8 covered pen all at the same time so they'd be on equal ground. The others are all the same size and hold their own against each other, I love these little guys.
But either way-I couldn't stand the thought of it so I went out and got her & put her in a parrot cage in the RV where My Serama is a little while ago, that's where I spend most my time. When I left to come back in the house a minute ago she was in there eating and chattering up a storm so we're both happier now. She'll be good company for Channing the Serama even though they'll be in separate cages. She already had a name (Tabitha) and I was already in love with her before I got to I-40 after I left your place

She can go back out when it warms up and be a real chicken. It sounds like I'll have to get the Moderns set up inside one of the buildings with a heat source. I think June's idea of a popcorn tin heater like a cookie tin heater would be great! Or a ceramic heat bulb like the turtle's got.
And I'd love to see the Silver Blue birds once you get started-I love your birds!

Those Columbians breed to a blue cochin will surprise you.. Very large and if you get the singe comb blue columbian with fetaher legs we may have to talk..

Isn't the single comb more dominant than the pea comb?

The Blue Wyandotte may have been bred by the Blue Cochin also... her eggs looked small.... but consistant on size. That cross would be interesting also
Since everyone has been posting neat pictures of their new birds, thought I'd put in some of the hen house reno.

Here is my new chicken riser with the Blue Wyandotte and the BLRW Joy checking it out. Four levels the bottom one is 8" high with the others 7.5 feet long. Had to have more roosting space for the flock.

New inside pencurrently has the SLW pair. Working on integrating the SLW roo and the CW roo today...but they had too many differences to work out. Once they get that settled, I can use that pen for breeding pairs out of the flock.

It looks a little crowded, but they all are down at one end of the pen...not used to the wheat straw and using the one doorway, so I locked them all in tonight.

Had to post a new baby picture. A Buff Minorca/CW , a SLW , a Aussie/CW and Lucie
