There was a commotion in the pullet pen this morning. I was worried that there was a varmint in the nest box because of all the noise, but when I opened the top of the box, I found that two laid their first pullet eggs. I was impressed with the size of each. Here is a photo that shows the Barnevelder pullet egg, a Light Sussex pullet egg, and a Pekin duck egg. The Pekin has been laying for a couple of months, so her eggs are the size of a normal duck egg.

I didn't realize Barnevelder eggs were so dark. Tell the 2 new layers they did a good job! Isn't it hilarious what a production they make out of laying an egg? Such a bunch of drama queens.

Had a random thought. I have a cabinet hatcher, I am thinking it might germinate my seeds better than the top of my deep freeze. Guess I need to do 2 trays of same seed & test it out. I will work on it this week. DH will be back to work tomorrow & kids @ school, so will be a good day for me to play in the dirt inside.

I let all mine out to roam while I work around the pens it is really windy it just wears a person out fighting it, I was moving sheets of tin for a short bit till I considered how fast it might cut my own head off

well I'm back after it I have to go get the camper trailer and find a place to put it where I can get to it, They have another one in much better shape and larger also, He said he'd sell for 3500.I don't have a use for a good one LOL

Years ago I used to work for Morton Buildings. Once and awhile the led man would have us working with tin on a windy day. We had a cat walk built on the top of the tractor and we would pile roof tin on it. My job when roofing would be to swing the tin off the trator onto the roof and I would line up the bottom and nail it, the guys above would take care of the top end. Led man always gaged if it was to windy to put the roof on by how many times I got carried off the tractor with the tin. Not a fun day.

Why is it when we get a day nice enough to work outside, the wind is tremendous?
Can't be outside, but walking the dogs noticed that the septic tank has started to leak and why is it you get sick at your stomach requiring visits to the water closet?
Two good things:
The Septic Co in Chandler is working today and they could come within an hour...out there now cleaning out the tank now.
And UPS delivered a shipment of soap making supplies from Essential Depot.

At least the score between good and bad is holding balance.

Guy's tip of the Day​

If you are lucky enough to be getting lots of eggs now (or anytime) and you do not have egg customers you can take the over abundance of eggs and use them in your feeding program. Boil the eggs, crumble them up and feed to your young chickens if you are raising some. Very good source of protein and my young birds go crazy over them when I carry some into their pen.
