***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Hello fellow Okies! It's been ages since I was on here, and there's been quite the change in format with the site. I'm sure I'll get used to it...eventually :)

Anyway, I'm on the hunt for Call ducks. Does anyone know of anyone that I could contact for availability? I'm trying to avoid shipping costs, but it's looking more and more like that's going to be the route I have to take. Any help would be appreciated!

Morning Folks!

Think I am going to have to wait a couple of years though because right now I just can not take on anymore projects, until the remodeling and repairs are completed. Oh and get my masters, getting the chicken coop and yard like it needs to be, etc. Just a bit busy...

Hello everyone. It's been a rather eventful day around here. Some of you may remember that my son has been in some trouble at school lately. Well he was in another fight at school today. I'm at a loss on what to do with him. The fights usually aren't his fault, but today it was. Usually he is just defending himself, but today, he started it. I'm considering pulling him out of public school and homeschooling him in the evenings. Does anyone have any information on homeschooling in Oklahoma?

I have homeschooled my girls for several yrs. There are lots of options, the big homeschool convention should be in April or May that would be a HUGE help for getting started. Now that we live in Cement, my girls are in school this yr. They are enjoying it, but I miss having them home. We used to be able to do so much fun stuff! I did work part of the time that I homeschooled, but I worked from home. Check with Epic one charter school & several oklahoma homeschool yahoo groups plus there is virtual homeschool that is still funded by the school system. You didn't mention the age of your son, so I am just throwing a few basic suggestions. Homeschooling can be rewarding & exhausting!
Is there another local school that you could consider?

Most of his problem is that the other kids bully him and cheat off of him. He is the biggest kid in the class and not weight wise. He is a good foot taller than the rest of them and is the smartest in the class. He has to turn his workbook into the teacher as soon as he is finished because it has been stolen several times this year. His way of keeping the others from cheating is to just not do the work. He usually walks away from fights and is then jumped from behind. He was taught to defend himself and it usually ends with the other kid on the ground. Today someone said something to him and he choke slammed them to a wall. This is not something that I condone. The school won't do anything unless the other kid does something first. They claim that "talk is cheap and we can't react unless it turns physical." That's the exact story that I got today because several kids have been threatening him lately. This was his 3rd offense and the school had to turn his name over to some higher authority for reprimand. He is currently suspended for the rest of the week. I don't know what is going to happen now. I will check out the program that you mentioned.

On another note, does anyone know if ADHD could be causing some of his attitude problems? He was determined to be borderline about 10 years ago and I chose not to medicate him. I am taking the kids for a checkup this afternoon. I am going to see about getting something for my daughter. DH and I discussed that we wouldn't medicate the kids unless it affected their schoolwork. DD has gotten to the point that she cannot focus in school at all. She is about to be held back because of it. I don't want to have my kids held back because of something that they can't control, especially when they are testing at the top of their class.

Editted to add that DS is almost 15 and DD is 6. The only other local school is full of kids that would end up leading him down a very bad path and I won't even consider that. The closest town is a complete drug hole. It's awful there.

I think the biggest issue is he is 15! I so miss my kids being toddlers! I use to complain about the toys cluttering the house, but I prefer that over living with teens! I would have a serious talk with him & give him the rest of the wk to see what he wants to do. If he doens't want to be homeschooled you won't be able to "teach" him. DD stopped doing work completly last yr. I couldn't do anything to get her to put any effort into her school, now she is happy to go to school each day & manages to hold a C in almost every class. I am not happy with her grades, but they are great compared to what she was doing this time last yr. She was all A's in elementary, something about being a teen makes there heads get all foggy!

Carl, hey Carl, where did you go?????

Buckguy come & stay awhile!

Muskey, we are only suppose to have three hobbies??? LOL.

I'm back.. been having a very serious debate on another website,, starting to get a little heated..

Sooner,
If I enter a few birds for pryor and something changes would you or Lil-sooner coop them in and out for me?

I had hoped you planned to make the great plains show, as I am currently scheduled to work that day, and I have a few birds I would love to have shown there.

Yes we will be glad to take care of that for you.

We won't make Great plains because I am being selfish & taking that weekend for myself with no kids.
