Look! The very 1st & only baby girl chickens I ever hatched in my life laid eggs today!! All 4 of my Cochin girl babies laid their very 1st egg on the same day, I'm so proud of them! They're just over 6 mo old. Is that typical for them to all lay their 1st egg on the same day? What are the odds? It's hard to believe the little babies I hatched from eggs had their own eggs today )
I tried a Silkie boy two different times in the Silkie girl pen today and that is just not happening. Chicken boys don't even ask the girls their name before they're all over them-my girls have more dignity than that

Neither one of the boys even FED them 1st. Maybe I'll wait til they're over the teenage stage before trying again.

I had a busy day today, on top of what i have been doing at work they have made me the new animal control person. i had a call from someone whose chickens were being killed by their neighbors dog,but due to how they are zoned (same stupid zoning i'm in) I couldn't do anything about it. I didn't like it but it was all I could do. the dog got some creel OEGB that her kids show in 4H. i hated to tell them I couldn't do anything but I did tell them about BYC and us Okies.

Animal control would be one tough job in Oklahoma.
Oh yea-and the feed dealer --------> 5 minutes down the road <--------- sells Shawnee Mills feed and is going to order all the Game Cock ration I want. It already has the viatmins and minerals in it and the label clearly shows ingredients so no guesswork. He wasn't sure on the price but around $14 a bag. But that's what I was paying per bag to drive to Luther for their brand of it. I was going to start making the trip to Shawnee every month and now don't have to. I feed the GameCock mixed 1/2 and 1/2 with All-Flock with oyster shell on the side for everyone.

anyone know about the maud auction? do the pens go with the chickens? anything else I should know?

Maud auction is every Thursday. It starts at 5 with selling junk, than goats and then they sell chicks, chickens, etc. The pens do not sell with the chickens. You have to bring your own cage.
The junk sell can be pretty good. You can get some really good deals. It can go pretty late though. I love going to Maud but having to work Friday mornings it is just not a good thing.

Just replaced some lines to try and improve my Internet connection, so far so good, Not really the right wire it's all I have though but it does seem better than what I had so lets try pictures

This is the travel trailer I got for $50 I am still clearing out the insides to set up for nesting and roosting then I'll set it on a floor and pull the tandem axle trailer out from beneath it so I can rebuild it




It's 22' feet long all together the box/future coop is 19' feet it's already a fun project Like I needed any more projects
