***OKIES in the BYC III ***

My Black Mottled
rooster, Pappy, I got at Maud. I got him to improve the type of my Mille Fleurs.
The Blue Mottled pullet that came with him. I sure didn't "need" a Blue but she is so pretty and sweet.

oh she is beautiful though.... ya know, i fall in love with every darn one i see!!!

I got everyone snugged down early tonight. The wind has picked up and it feels like a storm is on the way. I didn't have much time to draw today, but I did doodle some sunflowers, so I think maybe one part of the garden I put on my beehive will have singing sunflowers. I need to figure out what to do about the bottom portion of the image. I know blue sky works well to offset the flower heads, but the ground is still a problem. I cut away the parts I didn't like. Maybe what the ground needs is brown dirt and bunches of red strawberries.

or a white picket fence.

Hello Everybody!!!

Well tomorrow is Wednesday which means it is only three days til the weekend. Thank goodness, I am really thinking Spring Break cannot get here soon enough.

My cochin hen that had to spend a few days in the house to get over her ickyness seems to be doing well now she is back in the yard. Girls are still laying, and I have now 6 dozen eggs. Next week is going to be egg week. Think I am going to make quiche, egg salad, and maybe breakfast burritos. Yummy!!!!

So who is going to Blanchard this Saturday?? I think it would be a wonderful way to spend a Saturday evening. Plus I would like some nachos.

Still looking for LF cochins, need three roosters and 4 more hens.

Well it is time to head to bed. Hope everyone has a good night!!!

A little bantam NN chick that we got from the trio that came from Ed Hayworth. Are they not just the cutest little things?

Yes, they are REALLY cute.
From my experience raising one NN, I really like them - chicks and all. They may look unusual but they are hardy, calm and decent layers, an all-around good bird.

The dark chicks are the first crop from "Big Boy" The Shamo rooster that we got from Guy. It's funny, they stay between you and the smaller chicks in the brooder. And it looks like they mean business too!

I so glad to hear that your Cochin girl is doing better. My 2 girls with the "sniffles" are doing better too. i don't think I want to hatch chicks so late this year. The younger ones seem to have a hard time in the colder weather. It wasn't really my idea, it was the hen's, I just didn't steal the eggs and now I have 4, 4 mo. old Mille Fleurs cochins and 1 Partridge Cochin.
