Must admit I was really excited about the possibility of having POOPS this year. I am there for whatever I can do to make that happen.

Well tomorrow is Friday Eve and I am so looking forward to the weekend. Kind of want to make it a long weekend but am hoarding my days off for closer to the end of the school year when I am going to need them the most. hehehehe If you are a teacher you know what I mean.

Planning on going to Newcastle this Saturday evening. Having dinner with two of my BFFs friends on Friday, lunch with another of my BFFs Saturday afternoon and catching a movie Sunday. Should be a fun weekend.

The Dept of Ag came out yesterday and NPIP tested my poultry. The Dept of Ag representative reminded me that since I have been in the program for several years and am a certified tester, I can test them myself and they would then come out and retest 10% to be sure I got it right. There is no way however that I could test the peacocks, turkeys and larger ducks by myself - and it would take me several days to test all the chickens by myself. Having all the birds tested for $5 is still the best bargain around.

I absolutely agree with that, I also don't really think someone should be able to test and certify thier own flock though.. I know when we get tested it is so easy but I have evrythig ready in small cages, set the table and toss back the pen when tested makes testing 200+ in less than 45 minutes great.

In that case I am probably related to both of you.

Stranger things have happened.. I know my family history and most were not things a person would want to brag about.. But then there is that other part of teh family that everyone wanted to claim. So I'm just a mixed bag of fun.

Quote: I don't think I could actually certify my own flock, just do the majority of the testing and then the Dept of Ag would actually do the certification by testing 10% of the flock.

Even with all the birds caged or trapped inside the coop or covered dog pens,. it is still a challenge at my house to get 120 birds tested in 1.5 hours. Of course, some of that time was spent catching the pheasants, peacocks, and turkeys. Even in a relatively small area, the turkeys and some of the peacocks were a challenge to catch. There are feathers everywhere from my catching hold of a turkey tail and the turkey leaving me with a handful of feathers. Sure am glad no one had a video - I was undoubtedly pretty silly looking trying to capture the chickens in the corner of the coop or the turkeys in the corner of the pen.

Carl,
My incubators are not up and running so the Dept of Ag didn't check anything to give me a hatchery certificate. I told the tester that I will likely have you hatch my more "valuable" eggs this year - the peacocks, pheasants, madagascar games and genetically engineered chicken eggs, since you have a hatchery certificate. If I do that, you will likely see me about every week this Spring.

We know very little of my father's side family hx. No clue about his biological father, except that he did in his mid 40's from a jacked up car falling on him and crushing him. His mother, my Gma who raised me has/d at least 10 sibling/half siblings that she knew about, but only briefly met two or maybe three when they were children. My father traveled the whole of the U.S. for most of his life ............ and what's the PC family friendly way to put this "tom catted" his way all over the U.S. So yes anything is possible.
