The praziquantel in Zimecterin Gold is awesome to get rid of tapeworms. Most wormers won't touch tapeworms (Safeguard won't, Valbazen will). Valbazen has to be ordered online and that's sort of a pain. But you can get Safeguard and Zimecterin Gold in some Walmarts even. Between those 2 wormers you're good to go. The Ivermectin & praziquantel in Zimecterin Gold takes care of mites, lice and tapes, then the Safeguard takes care of ALL the others. Perfect combo. What more could you ask? lol

Thank you everyone for all the information about worming. I never even thought of this aspect of having chickens. I will go down this next week and get what I can to worm intime before we go to the show in a few weeks.

I will soon be putting my house up for sale and moving to the house at Lake Eufaula. Getting all of my accumulated stuff donated or thrown out is a long, horrible experience. I'm definitely downsizing, so anything that's not necessary is getting tossed.

One of my biggest concerns is my chickens. I currently have 5 assorted LF who are my egg layers, though the Minorca hasn't given me an egg in a long time. I keep her because I like her. I also have 14 grown Seramas and 6 babies. The two silkied ones can stay with in the house with me during this process, but am needing to find a temporary home for all the others. Is there anyone who would be willing to keep them temporarily, until I get my house listed and sold? I will provide the feed, the two small coops, waterers, feeders and anything else that they need. Since I currently live in OKC, I'm not supposed to have chickens, and can't get my house listed until the chickens are gone. If anyone is willing to help me out with this, I would soooo appreciate it!

Thanks,

Deanne

I have 2 acres just north of Blanchard if u want to move them down here while u wait. I can set up a temporary run and hot wire it for ya.

Okay we just treated with Wazine 17 so if I want to treat with these others how long do I need to wait to treat with them? I don't want to make them sick with to much medication but I want them all as healthy as possible. I am treating all the birds across the board just to be safe. Well except for my 2 day old chicks that are still in the house.

Next and this may sound stupid, can I save the eggs for hatching that may be fertile? Or do I throw those away as well? I don't have a problem throwing the eggs away to make sure my birds stay healthy. At the same time don't want to throw away possible hatching eggs if I don't have to.

Thanks for all the help,
Cathie

Why are you throwing the eggs away. I have used wormers and all kind of meds on my chickens and never stop eating eggs. Of course I have a few ailments that doctors have trouble controling

Well crap. My wife left me for a younger man.. and a younger woman. The down side to this is that she will probable be back in a week or so.

Daughter and SIL has a 3 month old girl and 4 year old son. DDs daycare had to shut down for something so DD had no child care for our 2 grand kids. Granny broke her neck volunteering for the job. They live in the panhandle. So here I am batching. Oh what to do. Hey I know, I will finish watching the lingerie Superbowl game on MTV2. Scantly dressed hot women that actual have football skills. (who cares).

All the wormers mentioned (including Wazine which *only kills roundworms, nothing else) are real benign. You're not going to overdose them unless you hold them down and inject them with a cattle dose, even then it's iffy. Wormers don't stay in their actual system long so you'd be safe to treat anytime with the others. Now I did read an article that said it's possible that wormers will interfere with fertility in the eggs. You don't have to throw them away, they're either going to be fertile or not if that article was even accurate. A lot of people don't eat the eggs themselves after worming for a few wks but I think that's just a waste of perfectly good eggs. Seriously-if you give the bird 1/2 cc of wormer....how much of that wormer is going to get into the egg? And even if it *does, most these wormers are used in other countries on humans in a lot bigger doses. I never toss eggs but that's just me.
